Just wait a little bit and you'll be able to snap up a RX 4x0/5x0 for cheap. With prices of Ethereum continuing to crash, and difficulty ramping up, used GPUs are now starting to appear on the second-hand market.

    https://hothardware.com/news/coindash-ico-hacked-ethereum-price-plummets

Prices are still kind of high but will go down as more GPUs flood the market - in about two week's time, it should be golden.

Bake the card in the oven. 80% chances it will fix the card.

Interesting, I did a bit of googling on baking the GPU so all in all no loss and it's worth a shot at least

Just stripped the card down and wow as a smoker i regularly clean the dust from the PC and fans ect, but never took the GPU apart, it is sticky and also has some residue of some sorts on there and lots of dust, MSI's thermal compound is all around the edge of the chip, the chip itself looks like a wet window

Any way I have some Arctic Silver 5 upstairs
Now for the bake, wish me luck lol

    Report back later

Arctic Silver 5 is not ideal for a GPU. The paste is too thin for GPU type mounts.

I really wish AS5 would go away, there are far better TIMs out there, and it's old tech.

Well it only bl**dy worked :)

Thanks a lot guys, no idea how long it may work for but I have time to save pennies for an upgrade.

    I did 10 mins at 200c

    @Chasity

The paste that was on before was not even touching the chip really so anything is better than that.

    Idle's 2-3c lower right now

If it stops working you can bake it again, maybe for more minutes. Update the topic if that happens.
Btw, glad to see it worked. Tahiti is immortal :D
You can even mod vram timings to get and extra 7% boost if you have not already done so.
    Here my result at 1135/1615.

My r9 390x just did the same. No output from hdmi, dvi or dp.
Tonight I gonna bake the card. Fingers crossed.

    UPDATE

I saved the card, but I did a really stupid mistake:
I left these piece of $hit plugged into dp and hdmi...I was tired and didn't notice them. Now ports are ****ed up. At least I use DVI, but if I plan to use DP in the future I'll need to replace and resolder the port

You left the blue protection tabs in the ports when you baked it, didn't you?

Black plugs, that's why i didn't notice them. I was watching GoT while disassembling the card. :bang:

Now i don't know where to find the right dp and hdmi sockets to solder. Seems like they are "upside down" on this cards. If you find them somewhere on ebay let me know, I can't find them :(

My card is still fine, runs like it is supposed to

you wouldn't even know the card was baked, at first i was sceptical about putting load on the thing but it's 100% fine, games for hours and doesn't break a sweat
