With so many development in monitors we just had to wonder, why didn't we have a monitor section in the first place ? :)

You can now use this forum section to discuss monitor related matters.

Nice, I hope this subforum stays busy. I'm sure it will though, with a movement towards 1440p gaming, ips/pls/lightboost monitors, Gsync, Freesync etc. Nice to have it all consolidated in one place.

Ok since we are on the sub-forum. Can anyone recommend a good color calibration program/software for my LCD (Samsung Syncmaster SA550)? I already have the drivers installed and everything.

You can use the Windows built in one or you can mess with gamma, colors etc in drivers. Then check your results here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

You'll need a hardware colorimeter to calibrate properly. Or you can try various profiles that you'll find on tftcentral etc. These are hardware calibrated.

Necro but since it's a sticky i decided it's better to post here than make another thread.

Anyone have any info on the upcoming Asus or Acer 4k HDR gsync monitors? Like release date and pricing? Can't remember where i read but salty sources were saying it's gonna cost either 999$ or 1200$ or something in the 1500$ range. Nothing concrete.

Or if you know of any other upcoming gsync/freesync(might switch to amd if vega+ is performing)HDR and 2k+ res, please share.

Might not go for a 4k since i'm not sure if i am willing to upgrade every year to a xx80/xx80ti card, but 2k at least for sure.

I just recently picked up a ViewSonic FreeSync monitor. Not really impressed with FreeSync so far. Love the monitor though, even with it's light bleed....lol

Is there an "Ultrawide Club" thread on this form ? I can't find it...

Some place where to share experiences related to this kind of display... talk about games that work ( or don't work ), desk photos, etc... ?

Having recently bought an Eg35 only to have it fail after 20mins iam sending it back and now considering an alternative screen to replace my Aoc 2879vf screen, which i must say is great for its price but is a little smaller than i want, in an ideal world my new screen would be 32" 4k hdr10 1ms and 10bit and be within my max budget of £500, my current Aoc 28" is almost perfect for what i need except for its size and lack of hdr but when i find a screen i like the look of its usually 2k or 4ms(or worse) and only 8bit, some thing else ive noticed...more often than not the specs in the listing dont match the actual manufacturer spec`s or omit details that are imo deal breakers, for example the ViewSonic VX3276-4K-mhd 31.5" 4K UHD HDR Monitor...the Ebay listing says:

    Product Description

The ViewSonic VX3276-4K-mhd is a sleek 32” (31.5" viewable) 4K UHD monitor with a modern and minimalist style perfect for home use. With SuperClear MVA panel technology and 80M:1 dynamic contrast ratio, this monitor offers best-in-class screen performance with ultra-wide viewing angles.

A sleek edge-to-edge frameless design, combined with stunning 3840 x 2560 resolution, provides incredibly sharp and detailed visuals, while HDR10 content support delivers a high dynamic range of vivid color and contrast for incredible screen performance.

Versatile HDMI, DisplayPort, and Mini DisplayPort inputs offer flexible connectivity options for both computing and gaming, while an exclusive ViewMode feature provides intuitive presets for optimized screen performance in different applications.

With ViewSonic’s industry-leading 3-year limited warranty, this monitor is a solid long-term investment that combines style and high performance for the home.

Now the first thing that stands out to me is the Hdr or more precisely HDR10 which i assumed it would be 1.8 billion colours....no its 16 millions, i also expected 10bit...ah no its 8bit, and yes its mva but 8ms gtg...even with overdrive the minimum is 3ms, my small Aoc 28" is 1ms and 10bit 16.7 millions colours and costs a lot less.

    Another example is the
electriQ 35" WQHD 100Hz HDR FreeSync Curved UltraWide Gaming Monitor.

Notice the HDR in the title....and yet no mention of hdr in the listing or manufacturer specs apart from it has 16.7 million colors and is only 8bit,

I dont know if it is poor/misleading advertising or just a case of these companies get so confused with the different versions of the same model there trying to sell that makes it difficult for potential customers to make an informed decision.

The closest i can get to my wish list is an LG 32" 4K VA FreeSync HDR 600 Monitor which is 60hz and 4 ms

or bite the bullet and go back to 2560x1440
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AOC-AGON-AG322QC4-32-QHD-FreeSync-144Hz-Curved-Gaming-Monitor-AG322QC4/163997586649?_trkparms=aid=555021&algo=PL.SIMRVI&ao=1&asc=20190711100440&meid=935673ea251d460897be217e648ee334&pid=100752&rk=3&rkt=13&mehot=co&sd=402007914622&itm=163997586649&pmt=1&noa=0&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100752.m1982

Or of coarse stick with my 28"

Hi, i ended up gettin an Lg 27UL600-B 4k ips 3ms(max freesync) from Ebuyer although im not overly impressed with my first hdr experience it is better in a couple of areas than my Aoc 2879vf, and Jayztwocents gave it a pretty good review.
