Two GTX 970's would be much better value for money.

I just called my pc store here in the neighbor-hood he calls me back if he can get two gigabytes gtx 980 g1,s in sli.

Edit: i am a bit skeptical now, after watching this guy running 2 gigabyte,s 970 in SLI they make allot of noise

I would get 970s over 980s. Anyone else feel that next year 980s are going to be rebranded as 1070s? I think this is really going to tank 980s resell value in a year.

For me they do when I shut down my pc as well.. in the moment before it turns off, the driver shuts down and the cards spin up for a moment.

Yeah, I know, but it's about performance tbh. If I go for a h2o cooling setup, I don't want to redo my system every two years just because I went for the value... I'd rather get it set up and be done for some time. On air I would certainly consider going for the 970s, and it's not yet decided...

I guess I'll have to look into the reviews and benchmarks again, because actually I want to go with a Swift soon, and I'd very much like to go for 1440p with 120Hz in mind when building my system. I know I won't get 120fps out on every game, but certainly I don't want to build a 60fps system with such a screen on top.

Not really that uncommon. For instance, case fans do that too.
