Hi guys, finally got the cash together to smack a new graphics card in my pc. Here's the two I'm looking at atm, any thoughts would be great, especially on the ATI card as I've not had one for a decade. Thanks in advance!

    GIGABYTE GV-R928XOC-3GD REV3 Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready ATX Ultra Durable Video Card

    PNY VCGGTX7803XPB-CC-OC GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card XLR8 Enthusiast Edition

Ugh scratch the 780, they want almost £70 for taxes & shipping. Any other decent cards for around the £150-£200 price?

They're over £250, which is out of my range sadly. I just figured £200 for a 780 was a great deal, till they added £70 in taxes.

I looked at the news on guru about the 960's, 128bit bus & 2gig of ram seems a little low. Atm I have 2 1080p screens with a 4k tv I've been meaning to steal as nobody at home watches it, I wanted something with enough oomph to at least look decent at 4k.

Atm Gigabyte&Asus have trouble with 280X model.means artefacts, reset, etc because of high voltages. If you find an Sapphire card get one. Or if you find a cheap gtx 780 will be better. Forget about crappy 128bit vram bus card. Good luck mate. :)

That 280x aka 7970, 7970 ghz edition are very old, can you save up and buy a 970 or something?

I'd have liked to save up longer, but my 560ti died last night & gaming on an i5's igu is well, painful. As it'd be probably another six months before I'd have the rest I'm not sure I can wait that long.
Pingu, are both of them base 280's? the names get a bit confusing with all the x's in different spots.

Yes, both are 280's (I saw MSI 280X on Amazon, but won't be in stock till 15/01/2015)

At the same clocks, the 280X is about 10% faster or so (280 has 28 compute units, 280X has 32)

My 7870 has become unstable and keeps crashing, so I'm using my 5870 at the moment.

290 or 970, hold out a little bit more and save, those other cards are pretty old

if u can hold out for a bit, 960 is the winner in your case. it'll most likely be within your budget.

Thanks for the idea, the 960 maybe a decent card, though I'm not sure how it'll handle 1080p+ resolutions with that small bus & 2gig of ram.

Save the money and go for the 970! Galax has a couple cheaper 970 cards depending where u are from shipping wise.
