Hey Guru's. I currently have a Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E cooling my 3570K @ 4.5Ghz with 1.312v I really want to change to an AIO as this cooler is an absolute PAIN to take off, even just getting the fans on and off is a chore. I currently get around 27c (coolest core) to 37c (hottest core) idle temps With load temps of 55c (coolest core) to 64c (hottest core) It's clear that this cooler is a beast and does a damn good job but the question of the day is, What AIO will be a match for this.. or better? Id like to keep under £100 but know this is will be hard! Cheers
I switched from the corsair h115i to the noctua NH-D15, didn't regret it, from what i know the Silver Arrow SB-E comes close if not the same as the noctua, no idea why you'd want to change it just for those reasons, it's not like you take it off every day... But if you are really set on buying an AIO...under 100 pounds... i recommend either https://www.overclockers.co.uk/arctic-cooling-liquid-freezer-aio-cpu-cooler-240mm-hs-06b-ar.html or https://www.overclockers.co.uk/arctic-cooling-liquid-freezer-aio-cpu-cooler-360mm-hs-06c-ar.html if you have the space for them, but they will be huge considering they're push/pull, so make sure you have clearance. But i have a feeling you'll return to aircooling eventually.
Bit of an odd reason to change your HSF, are you dismantling your build every other week or something? There's not much need to reapply thermal paste all that often if that's what you're doing, I haven't in over a year on my 3570K/4.4ghz and my temps are fine. A good datavac or a can of air should be good enough to clean the fans without physically removing them.
My PC gets very dusty very quick and I like to keep it clean. That ok with everyone? The HSF is SOO ****ING FIDDLY I cba to clean it anymore, There is currently a nice carpet of crap over the fins behind the fans.
Dust will build up the same if not faster on an aio, due to higher rpm, you need to unscrew the fans and radiator, kinda tedious if the rad is not mounted on a tray, like the phanteks cases have for example. Aios are also a lot noisier, kinda the only advantage is looks... But as i said, if your mind is set, i'd recommend the ones i mentioned above.
I've been thinking about new cooler myself. I have H90, its good but would like that extra kick. So far I narrowed it down to these - EKWB Predator XLR 240, ok new release in ~1month since XLR is out of production - Corsair H100i v2 (30mm rad; v1 had 27mm) - DeepCool Captain 240 EX - Coolermaster Nepton 280 (haf932 has 280mm space, but only for their aio..) at least judging by these reviews http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/72...formance-liquid-cpu-cooler-review/index7.html http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_h100i_gtx_review,11.html http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nzxt_kraken_62_review,11.html https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cases_cooling/silverstone_tundra_td02-e_aio_review/6
Why not just buy some dust filters? Honestly the AIO aren't that much better than a good air cooler. And once the radiator is full of dust, good luck cleaning it.
If you're considering an EK XLR240, why not take a look at some custom kits? It's a small set up in complexity really and the performance should be better than most of what you're looking at for a similar price. You get pretty much everything you need depending on which you buy. https://www.ekwb.com/shop/kits Same stands for the OP tbh. You don't have to specifically go with EK either, you can get similar kits from different vendors/shops for a pretty wide range of prices.
Have you checked out the Corsair h110i GTX? That is the one I have and it Keeps my i7 5930k @ 4.6GHZ very cool. Make sure it fits your case though.
Yeah I saw those too, but I just want plug and play type Will see what those new AIO ekwb will be, if its still ~ 170€ like XLR after discount then I'll but it for sure.
Fair enough. The older EK Predator line has been fantastic tbh, I see no reason why the new wont be. Lets hope the price is right.
Just get one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/ITdusters-com-EGP-COM-011-CompuCleaner-Electric-Duster/dp/B00S7CH6FK Blow your case out as needed, it'll get rid of all the dust from the fins, I have one, they're great.
I went from a Hyper 212 EVO to a H100i V2 and noticed a big difference in cooling. Haven't tried NH-D15 but even the S series is the best in the market compared to all the other air coolers. How much voltage are you guys using to overclock the 3570k?
