I see a few gtx 680 sli setups getting around 170ish fps for a max fps. I'm running sli 680s and my max is around 140ish. Anyone know why this might be coming in so low?

Also sometimes randomly, the program will minimize to desktop as if it crashed, but i can still hear the music playing. At this point I need to force end task from the task manager to get rid of it. Am I crashing due to OC? My gpus are running stock, and I have no issues in any other programs/games.

EDIT ok after a little testing to sync up my second cards clocks with my first one I'm having some luck:

true that 2560x1440 downsampled to 1080 is rough on my cards. I ran it like that as a test. 3.0 ram much higher fps

I'll try as well. What kind of performance should I expect ? Around 30% less frames per second I suppose. That would get around 58 average.. Heavy

Holy crap ! Indeed..
It's basically running more or less as good as @ 1080p with AO on. A tiny bit faster or slower depending on the scene.

Running everything at stock clocks. Asus AI and Steam were running in the background -forgot to close them down, but I don't think they affect the score by much at all.

AO has a huge impact at 2560, you think its related to the drivers or just a big resource hog?

SSAO is a heavy effect in rendering, let alone real-time rendering.
Since it's not SSAO in heaven but SSDO (Scene Space Directional Occlusion), it is heavier than classic SSAO. Plus quality of the effect is pretty high already at 1080p so with almost 1.8x more pixels to render + antialiasing, I think it's totally logical that the impact is huge. Now, considering the power of two GTX 680, I think Nvidia could improve things and lessen the performance loss pretty well.
I think NV drivers quality is falling lately. AMD is on a better way with their hard work..

that explains the huge performance drop with it enabled

Thought I'd test the difference in FPS between 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080.

Difference of 7,7 FPS
