I no longer watch TV (it's ON, I just don't watch it). But I looked at this thread and downloaded this to see what you were all 'a fussin bout'.

My Verdict:

Some of the Zombie make-up was very well done..... best I've seen.

The rest of the show: Sorry, I hate to be negative, but dull as dishwater, I fast forwarded through it, then deleted it.

It's all been done before and much better.

(No.... I'm not missing anything.... TV is still crap these days).

I thought the thread needed a nay sayer for once and I can't understand why everyone is going ape**** over this at all.

It's been done better in movies. When was the last time there was a full TV series dedicated to zombies? Other shows have had maybe a handful of episodes and a mediocre budget. Here we got a decent budget, 13 episodes in season 1, and possibly a season 2 incoming. 5.3 million viewers on the pilot means this could become a multi season show!

Movies have done it better, but with only an hour and a half of screentime. Here we're going to look at 10.5 hours of post apocalyptic zombie fiction, so fans of the genre are understandably excited. Anyway, you can't judge a TV series just on the pilot you gotta give it a few episodes.

Anyway, episode one is up on hulu though I watched it through daily motion's hulu.

He didn't judge it on one episode as he fast forwarded through it.

Looks great to me, and Darabont is usually very good at this type of stuff, will save the episodes up though before watching.

I just hope they try and stick as close as they can to the comic series, there were a few differences here and there that I thought were a bit pointlessly added in. All and all though I think its one of the better film adaptations of a comic, really impressive stuff for a tv show.

I enjoyed the pilot alot, very excellent show. IMO, it's better than 95% of all the other Crime, Drama, and Reality shows that flood cable these days. I'm looking forward to the next episode Sunday.

Finally got to see the episode on repeat friday night and I really enjoyed it. I liked the mix of slow pace and action, good character development, and interesting twists.

First Episode was OK. It was really lacking in the music/score for the mood of the scenes. That guys wife didnt even look like a zombie, and I thought it was strange that she tried to open the door. Zombies dont have memories maan. I thought it was absurd when the sherrif gave the Dad the bolt action rifle and say "its a good gun". Even a bat would be better to have than a bolt action when you are swarmed.
I'll watch a few more eps and then decide if its worth finishing.

Anyone watch(ed) High School Of The Dead?

watched EP2.

man if this isn't one of the best tv series ever made, i don't know what is (at least for me), as a horror movies fan i'm really impressed with the special effects and acting and even more so because it's a tv series.

10/10

Great episode. I have a feeling well see more of Michael Rooker.

Edit. IMDB has cast members up to 6 episodes ...... Is that all for the series?

I'm getting a little worried about the characters... I hope it will pick up. They all seem extremely clichéd, at least on the surface. This is exactly where so many new TV series go wrong; they create boring, hollow, stereotyped characters that no one cares about at all. It's still early though and I hope it improves as we get to know them. Character development is imperative for continued interest. This series has such an enormous potential that it would be shame if they didn't take advantage of it.

Otherwise it's very good. Make-up is fantastic and it's relieving to see so much gore on TV!

Pffft, characters, zombie apocalypse and how they survive (or not) is where the meat of this stuff is.
