I like the Thermalbake Bigwater. Pro-gear right there.

For anyone who cares, the thing I trolled on page one was a car cigarette lighter mod. Take advantage of those 12V rails!

Well, I have quite good rig atm, 2*GTX285, i7 920 @ 4,4GHz, watercooling... Cable management and case are horrible tough so I'm not going to enter before I can get those fixed (don't expect this to happen in few months tough).

Just saying, prolly that rig will win if it has good case and you can do some cable management. Good specs alone are not worth ROTM

I'm gonna build one here in the next couple weeks. Not going to use the top of the top parts, but planning on doing a lot of nice work to it. Might keep the case I have now, seeing at how beautiful it is.

Im guessing that mine is classed as unique, down to the fact that it is.

Well case wise, there isnt another one the same......

But until i can get some hardware in it, i guess its not gonna count?

Artwork soon though i guess..

Dam, will be upto around 2800 just for case.

No wonder i cant put anything in it.

But as you say, not down to cost of hardware, if it goes by work put in, then ive got a chance i guess.

But even if it doesent, i still end up with a unique case, unless i decide to produce it of course.

I'm guessing the standard will be much higher this year since OCZ are sponsoring and Prizes are involved

I'll be perfecting my rig in a couple of weeks, hope to be in with a chance!

Default Rig-Of-The-Month Potential? - 02-14-2010, 20:36 | posts: 5

Avid team reader here and hoping for some good feedback on proposed rig. Curious to know what you all think of component decisions for the following build? I'll apologize in advance if I should be posting elsewhere, but if worthy, I'll be submitting build pics for Rig-Of-The-Month.

Please keep in mind; I intend to maximize options to add memory, upgrade video card and CPU, convert to H2O, add external backup, add SSD and HDD, add Blu-Ray and second monitor in 6-9 months depending on a number of circumstances.

I also just wanted to mention that I have a 6k USD budget which is maxed out with this config based on current retail prices. Intel NIC option I would choose does not offer Win 7 driver support. Trying to look to the future potential upgrades without sacrificing wherever possible; specifically, CPU and Video cards in future. SSD would be primary with 8GB OS footprint and 2X 1TB drives would operate as RAID mirror for storage data. Adding a second video card until DX11 options increase is always an option and I'd love to upgrade OPAMPS on sound card in future as well.

Welcome to Guru3D's Rig of the month

We just adore hardware. And sometimes some you guys really make a PC that really stands out. We ask you to answer a few simple questions and send in photo's of your rig. Each month we'll have a look at the entries and perhaps pick you and post your PC with photo's and everything here at Guru3D.com

What do you need to do ? Simply answer a few question. Which components are used, if there are any modifications or overclocks, which parts they like, which parts they don't; you get the idea. :-) Then well do a little write-up about it and post it for the world to see along with a selection of visual references.

Why?

Cause were nosey bastards! Heh, nah, we are sure everyone who visits this site or a site like this has at least this one thing in common - the ability to appreciate some nice PC hardware. So what better way to get to know your fellow Gurus pride and joy (or awkward failure) than to read about it and check out some pics.

Its a great way to show off your months of over-time to purchase that shiny new high-end video card, or a nice way to show off that case-mod you just finished after many hours of hard work. Maybe you just want your system featured on one of the biggest hardware sites in the world - can't say I blame you. ;-)

Who knows, you might learn something. I'm sure we've all struggled with cable tidying before, and maybe a rig featured here will have awesomely tidy cables for which the author is willing to reveal their tips and tricks.

Would you like a chance to get your rig posted ?

Here are the qualifications & requirements, here's what you need to do:

What were looking for now is a rig which has something rather unique or special about it. Were looking for something that looks cool as hell or achieves massive benchmark scores. You know, something that makes it stand out from the rest. Were not looking any old rubbish anymore.
Search for your digital camera and take a few high quality pictures of your interior/exterior/whole desk arrangement. Show us whatcha got! Email me the questions and the images as an attachment.
When its finished you could be displayed on the site, with a news post on the front page to get it some attention as well.
In your email you need to answer these question. Please be precise and try to make a story out of your answers. Oneliners, Yes and no answers do not qualify at all.

To qualify please answer these questions, you need to submit by email along with at least 4 photo's:

1. What is your name / nickname /age / occupation
2. What did you first come here for?
3. What do you mainly use the system for?
4. How much money did you spend on the rig as it is right now?
5. How often do you update/buy a new rig?
6. What components are used?
7. Why ATI or NVIDIA, why Intel/AMD?
8. Does your PC life up to you expectation ?
9. What's the best part of your rig?
10. What sucks and should not have been bought?
11. Did you modify anything ? cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.
12. Your 3DMark06 / 3DMark Vantage score (P+GPU)
13. Do you have any Future updates planned ?

If you think youre rig is good, are willing to answer the questions above, email** us directly at rigs (t) Guru3D (d0t) com

Again, please include answers to the the questionnaire of your rig and at least four photos. Enjoy.

** by submitting this email, you give us permission to publish the photo's & content (duh!).

Here's the rig i modded for the kiDs after i smoked my NB. . .don't think it was all my fauLt as the M3A32 has a history of Burnin' up. The SSD and LightScribe SATA DVD i ordered for my rig, and my 5870 wound up here. Never found the s/w to enabLe LiteScrib, and when i tried to disassemble the 5870 i got spooked at the fOrce it takes to remove the factory cover w/ fan. . so i Left it stocK with the fan at Like 60%. But, i used skatebOard wheeLs (heheh) to raise the case up enough to add a fan at the bottom and even sanded & painted the inside for aLL the right reasons. i used an uLtRaMD3 for fan controL & card reader, & i did spend time on cabLe mgnt. it's still just a Box, but my kids don't mind and it Let's my big girL hunt coupons & pLay Texas HoLd'Em just fine. BTW, since my rig is down, i hooked up my Asus 24" monitor to the 5870 so they have duaL dispLays. This is what i pLayed BioShock2-FaLL of Rapture on untiL about Nov. of Last year. . air cooLed & stiLL goin' strong!
