Yes, they are compatible for crossfire purposes.

ok i opened the box and setup the crossfire.
having major issues crossfire not working correctly.
the oc gpu is set at 920 mhz
    the standard at 900mhz
and i'm getting bad flickering and fps is dropping instead of rising
tried altering the speeds to match but no help
running a 990fx mother board (sabertooth) properly hooked up (cards in proper slots) and tried reseating cards and crossfire bridge. no Dice.
    somebody assist please.

Indeed you got wrong cards for crossfire. 1GB of vram on each is not much, it's just to handle 1080p without SSAA.
Your issue is not in hardware, it's in software.

Provide us following before any real answer to your issue can be given:
    Driver version from CCC.
    Mobo BIOS date.
    Do you use RadeonPro: Yes/No
What OS you are running at. (W-XP/7/8 x84/x86-64)
Which games give you flickering and what kind. (Shadows, Lightning, geometry)

    bios version 0219 dated 6/11/2012
    asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0
    catalyst version 13.4 3/28/2013
don't know how to use radeon pro
    running windows 7 64 bit

the flickering i'm getting in some games some objects are flashing
and some times i'm getting lines across the screen similar to bad tracking
on a vhs tape, and some games even crash.

the cards alone work in either of the pci-e slots alone but together crash and glitch central.

those flickering are due to the driver/crossfire and the difference of speed of the cards.

-try flash the normal GPU to the OC spect
    -try the new beta driver

    good luck

Enable overdrive in the ccc and try matching core speed and memory speed of the cards. Could try over clocking the non oc or underclocking the oc card. I have a 7950 with core of 960 and memory of 1200 something. Also a 7970 with a core of 925 and memory of 1375. I upped the memory of the 7950 to 1375 and the core of the 7970 to 960 low and behold no more flashing in unigine heaven.

Have you tested each card separately for heat issues? How are they spaced when both are slotted in?

as far as the cards go the work individually fine they are spaced out in a manner of speaking so an additional card would be able to fit inbetween the two of the cards but they get hot over time running the games. i think the fans i have are not flowing the air properly though the case. i opened the case and ran a bench mark that came with the cards that monitors heat as well as the fps. the fps was fin but heat steadily rose. i ran it both with the case sealed and open. while it was open i put my hand by the cards and felt the heat generated by the cards but the fans were not flowing the air to move the heat through the case.
