@ Bigman - I'm not sure how much experience you have with PCs but things to watch out for are:

1. Some CPU coolers come with thermal paste already applied, which is fine, but make sure you remove the clear plastic that is usually on the end! Most don't have paste on though so you'll need to make sure that you apply some correctly according to the instructions that come with the cooler. If so then make sure you don't apply too much as that can be as bad as applying too little. If excess paste leaks onto the motherboard then it can actually damage it.

2. Make sure that you connect both the 8-pin and 4-pin CPU power connectors from your PSU to the motherboard.

3. I would not recommend attempting to do any kind of BIOS update while your PC is prone to random restarts as it may do it during an update and render your PC completely useless. Only do a BIOS update once you've identified why your PC is turning off and on.

I've had boot-up issues with my PC that were ram related. Even though the ram was good and in spec, my board had bitchy dimm slots that were not cooperative. In the end, I found that it only worked when I put 2 sticks in slots 2 and 4 and after it booted up, shut it down and added sticks to slots 1 and 3 and lo and behold it worked fine. Of course that may be a peculiarity only with my board but have seen similar issues with others.

Yeah i would put a stick of ram in different slots and see if that helps. Asrock boards back in the day had this issues from time to time. Other then that make sure all the components are seated correctly and tight. Anything not seated tight will cause you headaches.

I also believe it's BIOS related. Settings or compatibility, there's a few updates on the ASUS website for your board.

That said, don't attempt to upgrade when you're unstable, that's asking for a brick. I think it could be worth it to reach out to ASUS and see if there are any known incompatibilities between the RAM and Motherboard.
