    Hi people.
I dont know if this issue is a hardware problem or not but I'll try anyway.
    The problem is weird.... really...
Some random days I turn on my pc to find any program will just refuse to play audio!!

I mean, hitting the play button will not start the reproduction of the file. No errors, no jump to other files, no sound, no seeker bar movement, just like I'd never hit the button in the fist place. This happens with winamp, wmp, mcp, vlc, etc etc.
Windows itself wont play any sound (games, web, etc) but the audio device doesn´t show any problem.

As I said, its random. Some restarts will fix the problem until it just happens again.

I have a Creative x-fi xtreme gamer on an am3 asus mobo (I can provide more details when at home if u need).
    Windows 7 pro sp1.

Any hint on how to solve this once and for all?
    Thx in advance.

Which driver are you using? is that the latest beta one?

On creative webpage there is the following (Release date : 16 Sep 11)

    File Name : SBXF_PCDRVBETA_US_2_18_0015A.exe
This download is a beta driver providing Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Vista® and Windows 7 support for Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ Series. For more details, read the rest of the web release note.

    Take note of the following:

•THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. There is no technical support for this driver.
•We recommend that only experienced users install this driver. Do not install this driver on a system used to perform critical tasks.
•Users who are looking for stable drivers should wait for the final release. When this happens, user should install the latest Sound Blaster X-Fi Series driver available.
This download supports the following audio devices only:

•Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty® Professional Series
•Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty® Champion Series

    •Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
    •Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
