I could buy Nano for 349€ now currently. Wondering if it is a good idea over lets say rx 480 that would cost 279-320€ + post.
Might help you, Nano benchmarks are in there too: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_radeon_r9_rx_480_8gb_review,1.html
I guess Nano would be roughly bit over Fury and bit under Fury X if one decided to up the power target just by tiny bit and make more aggressive fan curve.
Performance wise I'd personally spend the little extra for the Nano, but ultimately it's up to you. If I may dare to say, it's not like the 480 offers any architectural benefits over AMD's last gen cards, do they? I guess it comes down to VRAM...
I would avoid 4gb cards too... We are already seeing how in some games we cant choose best textures because of the vram limit.
Might need to wait for some 8gb custom rx 480's then for the other machine. It is indeed really tempting Nano at that price point.
If i ware you i would not buy anything. That 290X is holding up and it will hold until we see Vega. Save up some more and be patient.
Not replacing this with anything before Vega and what not. Just considering my options for my partners build. Bought her 6700k, 16gb 3ghz ddr4, ssd + hdd and 750w superflower psu with good case and cooling. So just missing the gpu. She will be playing WoW, Overwatch, Diablo 3 and Black Desert Online at least and currently she makes do with the intel hd 530 and that is miles ahead of the 540m she had in her laptop before.
That is actually true. 980ti can be found at the similiar price to that Nano. Interesting, eh? You can give her that 290X and get yourself a 980ti. Are you ready to jump on the nvidia side, Ryu?
Yeah but 480 level gpu will provide 100+ fps easy. I know they do favor nvidia. D3 with my gpu all maxed is 180 fps. And OW should be roughly 100fps on 1080p that is her resolution. Will check out the 1060 for sure. And see how the custom 480's manage because those are taking forever. Cheapest 980 ti so far 440€ btw second hand. Need to have some tests for 1060 on bdo for sure maxed out rx 480 seems to be 40-60fps
I'd take 480 over 980ti, better DX12 and more VRAM. Just don't take the reference card, wait 1-2 weeks for the 3rd party solutions with better power management and coolers.
I am going to wait some none the less it seems. But really 980 ti is faster then 480 in everything. 480 can get close with stupid overclocks ( with luck) to a reference stock 980 ti, that is about it.
