Hello. I've just bought a sub-notebook off Ebay and the seller mentioned there is a "vertical line down the left side of the screen". He didn't give any more details other than it's not a big issue when using the screen.

From what I understand, this vertical line, probably black, is due to a bad connection between the LCD glass and ribbon cable. Is this true? Other people seem to have been able to make these sort if lines dissapear by applying pressure to the plastic frame around the LCD.

Do you think it would be possible to open up the laptop, identify the bad connection with trial and error, then tack it back down again with a soldering iron (applying heat to the cable to reflow the solder)?

If anyone else has solved this vertical line issue, please post up your method of resolution.

    Thanks!
