Default Does plasma in general suffer more input lag than LCD? - 05-21-2012, 20:06 | posts: 881 | Location: Portugal

Hey all ive been looking for a plasma screen and ive found one with resolution of 1920*1080 at 800€
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tvs/1...specifications

However i really dont know anything about plasma tvs except that they are much better in pixel response time (0.01ms) compared to 5ms of lcd monitors today, and having the same 16.5billion colours that the crt monitors do as it uses similar type of phosphors, however are lcds trully input lag free? i currently have a lg flatron w2261vp connected through dvi to my pc and im wondering if its a lag free monitor or not, the reason why im asking this is because i would like to buy a plasma tv but i would really want the smallest possible input lag, the biggest downside beying i cant afford more than 1000€

Can anyone help me with this issue with ideas? thank you very much in advance!

Plasma will always have lower input lag. Plasma usually isn't as bright as LCD though also they tend to have a slightly softer image.

Less/similar as long as you can turn off any video processing like 120Hz frame smoothing.

Beauty of a good plasma is the ability to render more lifelike colours.
Skin tones look better for example.
Use brightness to adjust the black level and contrast to increase the brightness.

Contrast adjustment is analogue and independent of the number of colours that can be displayed.
Using high contrast wont saturate the display like an LCD and looks gorgeous, like a top quality CRT TV.
