I am looking at building a dedicated capture/streaming rig for mostly high bitrate local recordings using OBS with some very occasional streaming.

Basically i'm looking for something that can do 1080p60 at higher bitrates using veryfast x264 preset. currently when i do pc games i use the superfast preset so my fps doesn't tank.

I have a couple options, I have a Corsair 230t and a hyper 212 EVO on the way already so here are my choices... I have a spare AMD Phenom II x4 970 so i was thinking of getting an am3+ mobo( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873 ) basically the new version of the same motherboar dim using in the rig im using now. and pair that cpu with a 750ti and use NVENC since the 970 isnt enough for 1080p60.

or i can get a cheap 1150 mobo and a cheap pentium( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116950 ) and use quicksync.

i can also pair the 970 with a 6870 i have lying around and just save up and swap the 970 for a FX8300/8320/8350 down the line and just use good old x264 and use my current rig til i get the new cpu into the capture rig.

I'm kinda stuck so if i can figure it out i'm gonna put a poll up. i've also tried to put upgrade options into all the options for example adding in future nvidia gpus would enable future versions of NVENC, with the intel route i can put a better cpu in if i want or even broadwell is an option. the am3+ route is currently the most up in the air as all i can do with that is stick an 8 core in it or i guess an nvidia gpu. amd would be on the table when VCE gets fully added into OBS.

Well i have the thing built and it looks like the 970 is good enough for 1080p60 somehow... so uh i guess going to microcenter and snagging a 8320 for 120$ isn't really that urgent now :)
