    Hi guys,

So after a month of wait after the advice given to me by fellow gurus and Skylake being out in the open I have looked around at benchmarks and what people are saying and here are my thoughts:

Should I get the new Skylake and z170 or the 2011 socket.

and here is where it gets complicated so I ask for patience :)

I don't want to spend too much (around £500 is my max) but am wondering if I would see a considerable improvement from my current processor and motherboard (see the profile on the left)

I am so torn and confused now as what to get so any advice would be great.

Ur just fine, but if u want to spend the money, u should go for mobo+cpu.
Like Haswell. Thats the cheapest and the most stable upgrade i can recommend

if for pure gaming within a budget, maybe go for an 'older' cheaper cpu and put some money down towards upgrading GPU, which i think atm will give you the biggest boost in performance...

But, if between 6700k - 5820k, i'd go 5820k if i was to upgrade right now, that ofc also forces a RAM upgrade...choices :)

I guess it comes down to what you use your pc for which type of upgrade you should go for.

Thanks for the link, I was a bit tempted but it turns out the deal ended in July.

Shame, it wasn't a bad deal really. I'd probably recommend looking at the Asus X99-A and the MSI X99S SLI Plus that being the case. At least if you intend to go with the 5820K over the 6700K, which is what I'd do personally.

I'm not sure what you should do... with the 500 pound budget you're pretty cought up with going for 2011 (there I would advise to the X99-A from Asus), but then again you won't see much difference if you're not building a workstation too, or dx12 comes around.

I guess a Haswell or Skylake update would be pretty neat, don't bother with Broadwell except if you use the iGPU...

    A bit of update -

I am thinking now going over budget and with skylake just because I can :D

I will buy probably the parts over the next 2 months.

I bought and Enthoo Luxe Case for the good looks too.

    Would this be sufficient :

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
    Kingston Fury Black 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C15 2400MHz Quad Channel
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail

    Thanks.

    P.S any recommendations are welcome.
