Hi guys, im new here at guru3d and im not sure if this is the right place to ask this. My brother build me a PC and the specs are shown below. my question is can this handle ultra settings of witcher 3 and gta V and if there is something needs to replace? thanks Processor: i5 4690 3.5ghz Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z97 mark 1 Memory: Gslick ripjaw 1x 8gig GPU: Palit GTX 970 jetstream 4gig 256bit Cooler: Noctua NH-d15 Casing: Aerocool GT-R Black PSU: Seasonic X-650 Gold Plus
welcome to Guru Noctua NH-d15 cools my i7 really well gaming 52c aida64 71c i5 4690 get the i5 4690K it has unlocked multi so you can overclock I have just installed z97 sabretooth mark 2 in my office pc it is a very nice board it is cheaper than the mark 1 (it has no armour) would go 2 sticks of ram rather than 1 GTX970 is good for 1080p gaming
thanks, hmm i don't know how to overclock so i think i'll stick on 4690 non k.. for ram yeah i'll go for 2sticks. for the gtx 970.. what is 1080p gaming? hahaha.. sorry im not really good on this kind of stuff so every piece of advice is highly appreciated. thanks
1920X1080 resolution. What monitor or TV are you going to use (model number if you have it available).?
It's compatible, but the higher the resolution, the more work for the graphics card, 1080p is the sweet spot for that card Start going higher, like 1440p, and you'll lose performance (FPS) in games Not to say it couldn't play at 1440p, but you'll get better performance at 1080p
Assuming 1920x1080/1200 resolution gaming, yes that system will be good to go. (Hairworks off in W3..that feature kills most cards/fps still) 2x4gb or 2x8gb ram, both good. If your brother knows enough to build you this pc, then maybe he knows enough to help you with a good stable overclock. Not sure how big the price difference on K vs non K is...but if it is not much..get the K chip and make that brother work, extra free power is always good And welcome to Guru3d
oh i see thanks... btw can this specs able to run upcoming games in the next few years playing at 1080p?
yeah i was thinking of getting another piece of 8gig.. about PSU? i think its good enough right? they say that seasonic products have a good quality for PSU? or not?
'The next few years' is unknown, depends on the games, but yea, more than likely, but expect to have to drop graphics settings down a bit for some of the more graphically heavy games - there are some games I can't max out at 1080p with a 980
The PSU is fine for any single GPU setup, you'd only need a larger wattage unit if you intended to go multi-gpu in the future.
ohh thanks for the welcome .. yeah i should ask him again regarding this one. regarding overclock, what does it do? and do i really have to do that? base on what i've heard from my friends overclocking is very sensitive, one mistake and you could have ruin your system or hardware(im not sure on this one) is that true?
980 is a higher gpu than 970 right? dropping the settings for some games even in lowest settings is not an issue for me as long as i could play it swiftly. thanks again
Overclocking is forcing the hardware to run faster than it was designed Which gives better performance Also uses more power, and produces more heat You can't really break anything from OCing unless you force too higher voltage into the hardware, or don't provide enough cooling Using things like MSI Afterburner, it has max levels to prevent damage These days it's pretty simple to do
