Hi I just recently built a computer for a friend and upon turnng on the computer wont POST. All the fans turn on including the CPU fan and 1 SYS fan connected to the MOBO. I have tried taking out the RAM sticks and puttng it back in and even only using 1 stick at time. Still it wont POST, any help will be appreciated, thx. CPU: Intel Core i5 4330 RAM: 2x4Gb Crucial 1600MHz DDR3 MOBO: MSI B85M-P33 GPU: ASUS GTX760 DirectCU HDD: Seagate Barrucuda 7200RPM 1Tb PSU: EVGA 500b
Double check the 4 PN or 8 PIN CPU power lead is connected, easy mistake to make Some CPUs need 8 PIN
Well seen as there is no i5 4330 in the CPU compatibility list on MSI's site the board wont post. See Compatibility list here If you mean the i3 4330 which I think you do. That board needs a BIOS update to support that CPU. Check what revision the board is and what BIOS it has installed if you can. If it has the original BIOS which is 7817v40 you will need to update it to 7187v41 or higher. Download BIOS files here.
Thanks everyone for the help! Sorry I meant the i5 4430 and yes it does say I need to update the BIOS. Any ideas on what I need to do to update it?
It's not a old BIOS version problem, i5 4430 is supported by first BIOS release (4.0) for this mobo. Try to reseat CPU in mobo socket (check socket pins), reseat GPU & RAM's, try with just one RAM, try with another PSU or GPU.... Do you have beeper connected to that mobo, anything comming from it?
Ok ill give that a go. With the GPU and RAM I've put them into my rig and it seems to pick up on it so I don't think those components are broken. I do have to say we had to put alot of force to get the 24 pin power cable into the board. Regarding the speaker I don't have one connected, but ill probably hook one up to see if I hear the beep.
Remove everything from computer case and hook up together and try outside only mobo + CPU + one RAM stick + PSU + use integrated Intel HD graphics + connect beeper to the board. If after that mobo still wont POST try to remove RAM (turn off rig completely before removing RAM, of course) and after that if nothing is comming from beeper then probably problem is in mobo or PSU.
Taken everything apart just used the mobo CPU and altered the ram still won't work. Switched PSU to my corsair AX860i still won't post. How do I know if it's a faulty mobo or CPU? I'm new here and I have to say thanks for all the help!
Do u have any other CPU to test? does it makes beeps? the number of beeps could point on a problem. See if u can update ur mobo with a usb stick without a CPU, some of the motherboard allows that.
Hey guys ITS FIXED!!!! Thanks for the help agian, we bought a new motherboard (ASUS z87-a) and the computer now posts and everything!
