    Better Hairworks performance :

    Main game folder > The Witcher 3\bin\config\base\rendering.ini

    Search for >
    HairWorksAALevel (default its set to 8)

    Choose 4 2 or 0 for good fps boost with hairworks active.

    Choosing 2 instead of 8 gives around 10fps boost according to some people on steam.

    Is that with hairworks on or with it just set to Geralt?

    i think that shud apply for everything, hairworks setting has a different name, so that looks like the "intensity", not where its applied

    As the Witcher 3 Graphic Downgrade is confirmed, I wonder if this is gonna become like Watch Dogs modding... finding all those old files.
    What do you think?

    A few Tweaks that will boost performance a lot.

    1 Go to your Witcher 3 game folder bin\config\base and open these files and modify any values you would like to lower

    I have lowered values for a lot of stuff here, no crashes, just buttery smooth gameplay, but you need to also modify the file in your documents\Witcher 3\User Settings, just open the file in a word program like Notepad++

    Inside you will see this (this is with everything on Ultra settings), before optimizing, apply the settings you want in game then quit, use the file created to do your optimizations, try to optimize when you are about 15 FPS below your desired framerate

    Make the User Settings file read Only after your optimizations.

    One last step, movies in game use supersampling and run at 30 FPS, let's change that by going back to \bin\config\base and modifying the visuals.ini file

    Code:
    [Visuals]
    Gamma=1
    MovieFramerate=30.0
    MovieUbersampling=true
    Change to
    Code:
    [Visuals]
    Gamma=1
    MovieFramerate=60.0
    MovieUbersampling=false
    That's all I got for now, hope it helps some of you out.

    I'm sure a lot of people are trying, it really depends how much code is left from the version shown at E3 2013 though, there is a good chance some of it is left, but kind of like Watch Dogs if people plan on bringing back the true E3 content, it has to at least still be in the games files, if there isn't any old code left the best we will see is mods that try to recreate the E3 trailers visuals, one thing I bet is still in there is the cinematic style camera for horse riding shown in the E3 2013 trailer, simply because it will be a very small tidbit and they wouldn't need to remove it for size reasons like they possibly would with effects or models and textures from the old version.

    Hi PhazeDelta1, sadly for my system, i dont see any big improvements by adjusting that hair AA parameter.

    here my results :

    HairWorksAALevel = 8 (42.8 FPS)
    http://i.imgur.com/RB3iRWY.png

    HairWorksAALevel = 0 (43.3 FPS)
    http://i.imgur.com/GbnN94Q.png

    HairWorksAALevel = 2 (42.8 FPS) (sorry i did move forward a bit at same save)
    http://i.imgur.com/ZsmtJ0L.png

    But people were saying on steam that they had good increase by this tweak.

    Hope someone with a top end PC setup can test this HairWorksAALevel config.

    Maybe i am missing somethings, or my pc not giving me performance boost with 4 2 0 options. I really dont know.

    And in theory it should work on both gerald and ALL options.

    In User Settings in Documents\Witcher 3 find the lines

    Up these for further view of detailed terrain and character textures as well as grass, foliage, and other textures

    After upping any values check in the render,ini file in the games folders to make sure no limits are set preventing you from going higher, if there are, change them to your new values or higher so the game will render what you tell it to, also make your User Settings file Read Only afterward.

    oh ok thanks mkeezay29, so the only file that should be read only is the user.settings, the rest of the ini files can be tweak and left as they are ?

    My tweak for smooth gameplay with max setings.
    Turn Vsync on with 30fps cap, it runs better cause no stutters.

    How is frametime @ 33ms on PC smooth..? :3eyes: It's not valid,it's wrong to say this.

    I think MANY gamers are confused between smooth and no stutter (or micro-stuttering),different things people,way different things.

    (unless we talk about Gsync or Freesync, then things are different,with limits and different requirements per monitor..)

    No, some people just dont see a difference. I personally need around 65-70 Fps to see absolutely smooth movement, but 60 is ok.
    But one of my friends is ok with only 40 Fps. It´s absolutely no difference to him. I first said, this can´t be, you never had 60 Fps before right? But no, we made a test on a homepage where a line moves from left to right and back again, while the Framrate is changing from 30 to 60 FPS and for me it was smooth on 54 FPs and above but he did only see the stuttering when the FPS fell under ~40 FPS.

    Here's mine, a reshade file with cinematic colors and an in-game DOF, custom AO etc. Still tweaking for max performance.
