hello world!

I wanted some guru advice on my case.
I will be finishing my CS degree soon. At this point when i see what i know about programming languages, I don't have enough knowledge. this makes me wonder what the heck learned at school lol.
I know algorithms / data structures and I can code in java, c, c#, f sharp but these are not popular anymore.
i see that i will have to learn more languages myself.
So i moved to sites like udacity / coursera etc and they have some really interesting courses. there is a course on coursera for website development with nodeJs that is free to audit.
my question is, if i learn the skill, will a class completion certificate matter?
i mean, i can learn Js frameworks, NodeJs, Html, css, ruby on rails etc without spending a dime lol but only effort.
is it worth it? or should i go buy these courses?

What do you mean "not popular anymore"? You listed languages used in "desktop" development and then you wrote about website development.

what i mean is, MEAN / Full stack developers get paid more, by a long shot and my school's computer science route didn't have all these languages / skills in curriculum.
Still the question stands for anything in development field. certifications are important or just the skill would suffice ?

Certifications are the baits for HR workers. After you pass the interview you need skills to keep your place in company. Ofc, interview needs some skills too.
May be you need opinion of a developer who works in USA...
