Yea Geothermal Valley is the most CPU intensive area AFAIK.

Yes I heard that too, but Im not there yet.

in dx12 benchmark Vally ran great, better then dx11. Shame there is no dx12 VXAO, Nv newbs:grin:

    I used guru3d settings, default v.hgih @ 1080p

^ yea DX12 benches notably better on Geothermal than DX11, better CPU multithreading no doubt.

Even I get a notable difference with 4 cores CPU.

980x @ 4.4 is still enough to push 980ti sli.
Especially in a single player game that is GPU bound most of the time.

Well it all depends what min and avg fps do you get.. I mean just personal preference like above 60fps by cpu bound scenarios, etc

You can bench RoTR @ default v.high dx12, fxaa, 1080p and 1 gpu to compare with my bench 2 posts above, just for fun.. :nerd:

    Cool

kinda funny how everything else scales negatively.. I expected to see BF1 doing great in dx12 not worse by both amd&nv. And then I hear they downgraded with new patch, lol? xD

I'm not really sure what the issue was the other day but CPU usage in the same location has pretty much halved today, but I'm still seeing crippling amounts of RAM being used, from what I've tested tonight it seems that there might be a memory leak with SLi enabled in DX12.

With a single GPU it's only using around 8GB system RAM but in the same area with the same settings it's using all 12GB of system RAM which results in the FPS hitting single digits.

    Ok good,

btw it just uses that much.. I saw it up to 12.5GB with 3GB card @ Ultra in Soviet Map.

I'm around 40% into the game and never saw that kind of RAM usage before the last patch, 6GB of VRAM probably helps with that though.

But heres an SLi off vs SLi on comparison, warning, images aren't the best...

    First off, SLi disabled.

    Secondly, SLi enabled.

SLi really puts some extra strain on the CPU!

Whew, so glad I didn't accidentally buy this when it was still $59.99 the other day!

Just picked it up, and about to jump in. Any suggested settings I should be aware of? Any Sweetfx profiles so good I should install for my first playthrough?

u should be good to go with ultra, the game runs super nicely on my 970, game looks gorgeous on vanilla no need for sweetfx, one of the best games ive played in 2016.

Indeed, there is no need for SweetFX IMO, my girlfriend has a 970 too and the game runs great.

Improved gamepad support is always nice I guess or well a specific gamepad in this case although the Tobii thing is a bit odd to me as this is a third person game but those who want to look at someones rear with full freedom can now do so. :p

I bought this game yesterday on PC since I had tried the demo on PS4 and really enjoyed it.

The game works like a charm on 4K at 60fps (without Pure Hair) but I noticed two weird things:
    1. Lara's hair - During the cut scene in Laras apartment her hair is jumping up and down like a rabbit. I googled this and apparently it's a known bug which is unfixable unless you turn on Pure Hair. Interestingly enough, Pure Hair only applies to Lara's hair and not other NPCs. Also the FPS hit is much larger during cut scenes than when playing normally.
    2. The Ice Pick - When I had DX12 enabled the ice pick physics were acting weirdly which made the pick stutter and jump (a bit like lara's hair though much much faster). When i disabled DX12 the ice pick worked like normal. Anyone encountered this?

Do I miss anything by running the game in DX11 over 12?

Actually, DX11 is better than DX12 in this game.
VXAO is only available in DX11.

I'm really enjoying it. The tombs are much better than in the first one. It still feels weird that they're optional, but at least now you are more compelled to do them.
