That field notice detailed a major problem with the switches, discovered after they were released: plugging in a cable could wipe them entirely in just a few seconds.
The cables, which are commonly used in datacenters, feature a protective boot that sticks out over the top to ensure the release tab isn’t accidentally pressed or broken off, rendering the cable useless.
That boot would hit the reset button which happened to be positioned directly above port one of the Cisco switch, which causes the device to quietly reset to factory settings.

First Cisco screws people buy purchasing Linksys and moving router administration to the web.....then they do this. I think Cisco is quickly becoming a failing company....lol

Bit of a design flaw ;)

You never used to be-able to do this on cats, you needed a console cable.

Such a dumb design flaw on cisco's part. I hope they fix it in later models.

Just looked at our 3560X switches here the mode button is in the same exact place as in the notice.

someone was drunk/high when they designed that, what makes funnier is NO ONE noticed this huge problem BEFORE it was released? was everyone else all drunk/high too?
