Wheres the link, so I can see why this person came to this conclusion with the card and if he had any problems, so I know what to except if any at all. if it was due to the sound, people are gonna have different results then him/her just from having an different set of headphones or speakers, or connecting it to an external headphone amp and so forth, besides having an different taste for sound.

I still planning on grabbing one my self at the end of the month when it goes on sale, as long nothing get in the way. If you know me by now,You know I will evidently put up an review explaining my results with the card.

What did he not like about the card, the lights which can be turned off in software, or did he simply not like the sound signature of the card, because like I mention, people will have different taste for sound, which means what one person hates, another person my love.

I need to stop ninja editing, when he do post his impressions with it, I hope he also mention the setup that he used with it, to give some people an idea what they may get with that speaker or pair of headphone.

It looks like they dont want to publish the real figures, instead relying on dodgy marketing.

I suspect it wont sound much better going higher than 96KHz, I hope that 96KHz is worth using.
We shall see what the real SNR figure is.
Listening tests will be what seals it but we wont know more until after August unless Creative publish more.
It's all in the manual which is available at creative.com

I notice in an AE-3 being mentioned in the drivers, when I looked thru them. I wouldn't put it past them to release some time this year. I betting an AE-7 will show up also.

For those who are wondering the RGB can be turned off by ether turning it off in the software or by not plugging in the molex power to the card, which powers the RGB only and not the card.

Card wouldn't be for some one who loves swapping op-amps, as the card doesn't have any dip-8 sockets, unless that said person is willing to do it manually. The card does use LME4562 on all of it channels including the headphone out. I betting the AE-7 or whatever it maybe might, unless the AE-3 does, which currently no info for other then the driver listing.

I don't recall what an sound blaster ZXR sound like with the stock op-amps, as it been many months since I last had one. I do recall that the ZXR hp amp wasn't an good match for my R70x as it was off and did not perform right, something I would never forget as It was before I had the Jot.

But I have not had time to try out the AE-5 headphone amp with my R70X, as I still getting used to the card first, taking it thru it paces. Now I have been using my ATH-AVC400 with the card directly and the results for me been good so far. Including using it as an source with my Jotunheim.

Evidently I will get around to seeing how it's headphone amp handles my ATH-R70X, just not right away. But that will be later on when I do it.

I didn't have any hardware issues, and the software issues was really only minor, such as the headphone gain settings not saving. Other then that, minor issue nothing else.

Component wise you want to stick with the ZxR.

Can't really tell how something going to perform just by looking at it, I just don't own have an ZXR any more to be able to do an side by side for comparison. I don't even have any reference notes written up either.

Only way to know for sure is to wait for some one who has both to do the comparison with the stock op-amps on the ZXR, since that's what most people will be running afterwards seeing how it compared with the same LME4562 op-amps installed into the ZXR.

Them using Discreet components for the headphone section is an nice touch, different then the normal design that usually used. Including the WIMA Caps which are very good and the voltage regulators hard to see from the picture since I haven't took off my EMI shield yet to take an closer look.

Main reason I would like to get this is my current card is old, still works but it's going on 9 years now and drivers are dead, with last driver a year old.

M$ also rebuilt their audio api for Win10 so I'm curious to see if Creative can get a handle on proper driver optimizations for the new code.

Has anyone been able to find an actual review of this card? It seems you can buy it also from europe creative site but it's not available on any another netshop other than by pre-ordering.

Now the review is out, I can say it here...I've found the source of my woes...the CTD I've been experiencing in WD2 was Game Mode being on in Windows.

Looks like it was conflicting with the other Game Mode in Audio Console, as I can set all options like Crystalizer, DTS, etc., to on with no crashing. Before I had to set speaker config to Stereo and disable everything for the card...but the minute I set to 5.1, within 5-10 mins, the game would freeze and CTD.Started happening after last Cumulative Update.

Holding off on getting this card for the time being, Win10 Game Mode is the devil and thanks again to GenClaymore for the excellent review.

I'm still using an Auzen X-Fi Prelude (with latest Daniel K drivers) that is also nearly 10 years old next month? Curious the differences between it and todays cards since I'm using headphones.

Depends on the headphones.
But more detail, better imaging, better stereo effects...
If the headphones arent poor.

Ordered it then thinking it's based off the Z but with better DAC and that but noticed none of the specs listed Dolby Digital Live or DTS support, found FAQ and it does not support it so cancelled and ordered the Z instead. Seems the AE is only really good if you use head phones, if you have optical headphones or a standalone DDLive sound system the cards crap. I guess it does emulate it but then so does realtek onboard.

What are you trying to say here? That the ZxR has more caps, so it's better?
