    [Solved] Problem: Phenom x4 955 (3.2GHz)+ K9A2GM -> running 800 Mhz showed in CPU-Z

    Hello to everybody,

    I have a desktop with:
    AMD Phenom x4 955 BE
    Nvidia 220 gt
    Windows 7 Prof. x64
    4 GB DDR RAM
    Motherboard: K9A2GM V2

When I open CPU-Z it says 800 Mhz when it should be 3200 Mhz, also the performance in games seems not what I expected, a dual core + nvidia 9800 geforce loads league of legends screen faster than mine PC and I don't understand why.

    The CPU-Z images:

These are two webs showing the "normal" stats of the cpu:
    http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_phenom_x4_945_and_955be_processor_review|test,8.html
    http://www.legitreviews.com/amd-phenom-ii-x4-955-processor-review_980

I tried disabling the Cool'n Quiet feature but it doesn't seem to change anything.

I updated my BIOS and installed the amd driver utility from the motherboard official page:
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/K9A2GM_V2.html#down-driver&Win7 64

But it doesn't seem to change anything.

    The motherboard specifications says:
    CPU
    • AMD® Phenom/Athlon/Sempron CPU.
    • Support socket AM3 CPU. (65W only)

When I looked for the cpu specs:
Thermal Design Power ? 125 Watt
    (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/A... Edition - HDZ955FBK4DGM (HDZ955FBGMBOX).html)

Is this cpu compatible with this motherboard?

Sorry for this noob question, I looked at different forums tryining to understand what was happening for a couple of hours but I couldn't. :bang:

Any help would be very appreciated.:)

If the motherboard only supports up to 65W CPU's, then it's not compatible with the 955. You'll need a new board to get the full speed.

Yeah, the 955 isn't even listed in the CPU support list.

As above, your board / BIOS does not support the 965

I had a similar issue when I got my 965, it was also running at 800MHz, I managed to force full speed using AMD Overdrive until the board manufacturer released a beta BIOS that supported it

Probably not a good idea on such a low end board. The power phase will probably just blow up with even a moderate CPU load.
