XFX 6800 GT to Quadro .... where m i wrong?

    I'm trying to transform my brand new XFX GeF 6800 GT to Quadro Fx 4000 with Rivatuner RC 15.5 but with no valuable results while using 3dsmax, even with maxextreme drivers.
    Well, I'll start from beginning:

    1) i've run Rivatuner and in Low Level Settings i've installed NVstrap. Then i selected "Quadro" as videocard and checked the checkbox "PCI Rom Settings".
    Finally i checked "unlock professional capabilities".
    2) i've installed forceware 71.84 drivers.
    3) Reboot

    System boot up and found automatically new quadro drivers and it recognises card as Quadro Fx 4000. I installed maxextreme drivers and then started using max (3dsmax 7).

    Moving high poly scenes i can't see a difference respect to previosly Geforce, so...where i'm wrong with RivaTuner?

    It does sound good if you where able to install maxtreme drivers, you should play around with the settings for maxtreme to see if that helps to achieve better results. I don´t work with 3dsmax, but heard that maxtreme really speeds up viewport performance, I think it´s based on direct3d, opengl is darn slow in max I heard even with a quadro fx 4000.

    Maxtreme is based on OpenGL still. But personaly i think DirectX is still a faster option than Maxtreme. But that is me and my computer.

    Yes, max lets u to set up opengl, direct3D and custom drivers like maxextreme.
    I'm not new to maxextreme: playing around with maxextreme settings doesn't let u to go far away..i mean that maxext settings are not so various: speed and quality. Anyway, while i move around non smoothed parts it goes fast and smooth but with meshsmooth modifier active it slows down such a 40%...so the question is: a true quadro is like that?
    The answer is: i don't think so.

    Soon i'll post diag report.

    Having modifiers like meshsmooth active will nullify all advantages of using Quadro+Maxtreme because modifiers consume huge ammounts of CPU power. The only proper viewport benchmarking is when using plain (editable)mesh scenes.

    Absolutely correct. Maybe you should try reading the Help & Tutorials that came with Max - you would be amazed how much useful info you can find in those... ;)
