For some reason I lose my sound with the new drivers. I do a clean install and always install the HD sound drivers along with the video drivers. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times but no luck so I reverted to an older driver and my sound came back. I run hdmi for sound and rely on the Nvidia HD drivers for the connection. My question is how to fix this and still use the new drivers. Tell me if this would work; I extract new drivers to a folder and also extract old drivers to a folder. I take HD driver from old drivers and put it in new driver folder replacing the current one. Then install whole package from new driver folder.
