First off, not sure if this is the proper section for this. I'm looking for a somewhat cheap replacement for an HD6870 since no dx12 support. The prices in my country are pretty ****ed up, for example the online shop which I use for my hardware stuff offered a GTX770 for 160bucks some time ago. Because they used it as a show-off product. Basicly means barely used. Anyways what I'm currently looking at, are following gpus: Club 3D r7 360 (2gb) for 119$ Gigabyte GTX-750 Ti Windforce (2gb) for 140$ MSI R7 370 (2gb) for 148$ Is any of those cards even better than the HD6870? That's about the price range I'm looking for, also because anything better than those cards starts at 200$. I don't mind overclocking at all, for example if the GTX750Ti would beat those AMD cards when overclocked I would probably go for it. I also don't care if it's AMD or Nvidia both have their flaws. So would be cool to hear some opinions on this. Whole system is: g3258@4.3ghz HD6870@1004/1120mhz 2x4GB ddr3 1600mhz Win10 x64 Pro Seasonic S12II-520, more then enough power for those cards. As you can tell by the specs there's no need for a super high end card. I will also gift this system to a friend which only has an old notebook with literally the weakest Intel HD chip in it.
In your case i would recommend used card, just like that gtx770 you ware offered at 160$. It beats all three GPU's you are looking at by far. Used gtx760, R9 270X or even HD 7950 (need a better PSU probably) would be also alot better choice.
Was thinking about used cards. However I have no idea what's wrong with the ppl here. They are trying to sell their Geforce GT9800's for 140$ and upwards. I think someone wanted 300$ for his used GTX950... Country is Switzerland btw. Also checked ebay, but most offers that aren't completly retarded come from USA. Resulting in a huge shipping cost. As for the GTX770 that I used as an example, those are pretty much daily deals. As it's often just one GPU that they used as a show-off product. The GTX770 lasted like 2 hours before someone bought it.
I use to run a Used Gtx 770 like urs boss, A buddy of mine sold me his Evga Gtx Sc 780 FOR $150 BUCKS! I could not turn down that offer lol. I am a very happy camper with this card to be honest. If I were you now..... I would go for the 770 if possible, the 770 will allow you to max pretty much any game in the current market at max settings, If you are worried about consuming power then go for a 750Ti. But between the 2 the 770 has a ton more Horsepower. Good luck with your Gpu purchase. Btw I also use to own a 6870 crossfire set-up, at the time they were pretty kick-ass cards.Dont know how well they play with newer games tough.
As I wrote earlier the gtx770 is sadly gone already. It's most of the time just one piece which they sell at a lower price since they used it as a show-off product in one of their stores. Wouldn't a gtx770 be somewhat overkill in a system with the g3258? Also it doesn't have to be a high end card. Since his notebook has the slowest Intel HD chip in it. (Based on Intel hd 2500 but lower clock). Any dedicated GPU would be an upgrade for him. I would stick with the hd6870 but no dx12 support is kinda meh for a new system.
There doesn't seem to be any good used deals so far. Will however wait another week, hoping for a good deal with those barely used show-off products. If there wont be any, should I take the r7 370 or GTX750TI? r7 370 seems faster, yet having the option to render physX on the GPU could take some load from that dual core which wouldn't be to bad.
Hehe same here, mine's also oced to 3.8ghz. However the card wont be for my system. Specs are in the first post, let me quote them again. The new card will be replacement for the hd6870.
Grats on the purchase. Currently looking for another card too that would eventually replace my 580 mainly for the purpose of in home streaming (so looking for something quiet or passively cooled).
Actually have to update this again, managed to still cancel my order for free. Undying and nz3777 were right with getting him a used GTX770. He will get mine. Swapping it out for a GTX960 4gb. I know this card is abit weaker, but I got the GTX770 with 2gbs and starting to hit my limit on it more often. Also the better dx12 support and less power consumption will be nice. The store i'm buying it at is offering it for 200$ which is a pretty damn good price. Maybe I'm on the luckier end and it overlocks well so I can get somewhat closer to the performance of my GTX770. Thanks, your profile says you're running a GTX980 tho. I guess the 580 is in another system. An upgrade for it would probably be a GTX970 if you plan on doing steam in home streaming stuff.
Yeah, it's in my HTPC. I hardly game anything besides Hearthstone there, which does not require much resources I'd say. I just want it to go silent, yet I don't want to pay over 100€ for a card I don't need just to get it a little quieter, it's not that bad
Just to update this, got the GTX960 4GB in my system now. Core clock is stable at 1555mhz without changing voltage. (didn't touch memory yet, not sure how I should test mem clock for stability issues). Suprisingly it outperforms my GTX770 2GB in games like Rise of the Tomb Raider(even with ultra textures enabled) and The Division.
