Question Lastest driver for 5650 Mobility - 07-09-2012, 22:42 | posts: 13 | Location: Portugal

Hi guys. I've an Ati 5650Mobility currently on 11.12 drivers (Windows 7 x64)

I try to update , but seems that the drivers after 11.12 are not compatible because in the end of the installation i got an error on the log, like "fail to instal HDMI audio" and all my videos become a green image..

So the 11.12 is the last driver compatible with my card?

btw my notebook is : Sony VPCEB1M1E

thanks

On laptops, the HDMI audio is not from AMD, but from Realtek.
Look for 'ATI HDMI Audio Device'; that's the driver you need.

Regarding green Flash videos, turn off Flash's hardware acceleration.
Right-click a Flash video, untick 'Enable hardware acceleration', click 'Close', and reload the webpage.

Go to View -> Options -> Internal Filters.
In Transform Filters on the right, untick everything that has (DXVA) on it.

So, in short, hardware acceleration is b0rked for 5650 Mobility.
If you want more proof just for 'fun', try re-running WEI a.k.a. Windows Experience Index.
You'll most likely crash at Windows Media decoding tests.

Ask AMD.
They're the ones botching hardware acceleration support on 5650m in newer Catalyst sets.

Been reporting this same result for months, and it's mostly been dismissed by either desktop card users (who are not affected; my 5770's hardware acceleration works just fine with the latest Beta), or fellow 5650m users who, funnily, didn't really use hardware acceleration or doesn't have a habit of doing a clean installation.

In any case, if you still want to use DXVA, stick to 11.12.
Or, you could just pull out the relevant .dll files for DXVA support from 11.12 and copied them over an existing, newer installed driver set, but that means you'll have to disable driver signature enforcement every time you boot into Windows since you're using 64-bit Windows.
Easily remedied with Ready Driver Plus (for disabling driver signature enforcement), but that's not really the point.
