I'd probably still have my R9 295x2 if it came with more VRAM. It handled 4K pretty well when I first got my monitor, but even 21 months ago it didn't have enough VRAM to handle max textures at 4K. If I lowered texture quality the majority of games were quite playable.

That's a testament to the AMD and the 295x2. It certainly has stood the test of time better than most.

So.. another fury x fiasco? performance& price-wise..

I guess it was too naive to expect something better than this . Well, at least their CPUs are great now

Why was FuryX a fiasco?

When i got it had similar price to the 980Ti with aio cooler and performance wise is pretty close.

Well, about a price.. let's just say it was cheaper to get 980ti where I live..so it's a bit subjective.

Anyways, fury

- used more power
- bad OCing potential +negative performance scaling past +35-50mV if set via software
- less VRAM

So getting 980ti and OCing it thus increasing performance gap between fury and 980ti even more was a smart choice to make.

1080 has been available for almost a year now and AMD is releasing a card with a similar performance just now. And it's their top tier card. I'm not even talking about 1080ti which is much faster than vega, has more VRAm and uses, yet again, less power.

980Ti was subjectively better in every way, prices were a bit cheaper too(depending on where you lived)

Especially OC vs OC 980ti is potentially much faster.

Why? it has 2x8Pin like many other GPUs (included mine Yet it has ~55deg. & Real tW at resonable ~150 ave. in Heavy Gaming)

ME Andromeda (on my RIG 1440p)

 Click to show spoiler

PS.

Just watch this ->
https://www.hardocp.com/article/2017..._1080_ti_gsync

Many of my friends have nV GPUs (1080, 1070, 980Ti etc. becouse it's "better" no matter what ) and they don't have G-sync, Why? Becouse good GS monitor has +200-250 nV TAX lol
and in the end they said that i have better/similar gaming experience + saved a lot of CR !
Now i can have instant upgrade if i want to ....

I can Play smooth in any game with Free FreeSync ! at 500-600 (GPU + 10Bit FS Monitor)
Forza H3/ME Andromeda & DeusEX MkD included

Long time ago (before 680GTX, nV has mind share on me also, but after all common sense wins and i've got 3GB 7970Ghz Ed and not overpriced GTX 680 2GB lolZ), mind share is not good at all -> for those who fall into it

Yes and no. My issue is dx12 being horrible in BF1 for both companies it would make more sense on dx11. Also from what I read this was the only game where it actually was this fast. Tho it could give pointers towards future.

Even then. I just might buy one of the RX cards come end of the year. I just dislike nvidia drivers among other things.

Wait for XFX AIBs with short PCB and -40 up to -100tW lol
I will Pick XFX Black WC or 3xAir

PS. Vega on average is better than Fiji in tW, even my Fiji is not absurd when Gaming (even on OC to 1120/565)

BF1 DX11.2 -> 1001/570 -42mV -12POW \ tW ~180 average at |70FPS stasis|
IMO Vega 3xAir will be ~140tW at easy 70 FPS (with my MODS, like Fury)
All Games at 1440p (Ultra where i can)
