    Ok guys.

What's the be all end all official word on if you have 2 or more video cards in sli/crossfire will the extra memory be utilized.

I keen on seeing arguments on both sides, some saying Yes the extra memory from the second video cards IS used, and then some people say No, it only uses what ever memory the primary card uses. The second video cards memory is not used/added.

So could someone who KNOWS for a FACT what the final answer is, please let me know?

Just querying this again because of the recent release of Watchdogs and if my 2 x gtx 680s 2gigs should be able to run it in ultra texture mode or not.

    Cheers:)

The question should be will I get 4gb of usable vram if I buy another 2gb 680? the answer is no, you'll still only have 2gb of vram.

The proverbial horse has been beaten ad nauseam over this topic. What eclap said is true.

SLI & xfire both duplicate the information across both cards sets of memory, meaning in real world terms you get no more vram than a single card.

The memory is used just not added to make the total bigger so any game you are running out of vram adding a second card you will still be running out.

The exact same data is mirrored in sli. In my case I have 3gb usable.

    Cheers guys, appreciate that.

And no disrespect to the first person to reply either, I just wanted to get multiple answers for confirmation rather than just going off the first reply.

your question was confusing. the memory from the 2nd card is being used, of course, but it doesn't double up. it is mirrored.
