My PSU is 4 yr old and never encountered problem before but these past few months it was noisy I suspect it was the fan causing whining noise. But this day, I was going to boot my pc then after plugging the avr to the wall socket suddenly thin blast and smoke pop into the air. I was really stunned that time that it blasted continuously cause I never realized that it go that way :nerd:. I brought it to the shop and they said better to buy new one than to actually repair it. but what causes it to blast like that I mean even though I still didn't try to turn on my pc yet
Well usually the PSU has it's own flip switch for Power on/off and if it's on it has power even if the computer is not on. Because the PSU has Power, it can short out and "blast" as you describe it. It's not common but possible. Usually it happens when the computer is turned on.
so that flip switch must be off for safety? really what causes it to blast . the whine the dust, surge or my motherboard
