Received a letter in the mail from my provider that said my plan will no longer be available after Dec 31, 2013 due to the Affordable Health Care Act requirements. So they provided a list of available plans and I'm looking at them and I'm like WTF is wrong with you people. They're basically offering what I have now, just at a higher cost lol. Which will roughly be a 66% increase over what im paying yearly now. Shuch bullsh!t

Thank you Obamacare. So much for being able to keep my health insurance as promised. :flip:

So because of the affordable health care act, something presumably to reduce prices, you have to pay roughly 66 percent more? I can understand you being pissed!

yeah I got the same thing in the mail. but didnt get a list of choices.

and I heard you would get a penalty fine if you dont have insurance.

even with insurance I could not afford to go to doctors. now I have to pay more for something I can not afford.

the thing I need most is vision insurance. and currently at the moment I can not find one that list prices for my area. the should be changing next month.

thing is business are already taking the jump to drop insurance and the government has not completed finalizing the bill and agreeing to terms

Yep mine is slated to go up again . It already went up last year from $1,100 to $1,250 per month for Family Coverage.. It will get to a point when the lower middle class will not be able to afford healthcare.

    we used be middle class.

now we're bottom of the trash can class.

trying to come back up, but every body wants more money and throwing crap at us.

i call conspiracy because companys can keep more money to them selves by dropping insurance for employes. company with 4 mil employes drops insurance. that alot of extra money.

I don't know how people use private healthcare companies, sure it's good if you're rich but for the normal person it seems an complete rip off

It's either we pay for Health Ins or pay out of pocket when we get ill. If you ever been in the US and had to go to the ER... it ain't cheap. Hospitals jack up cost 200 to 400%. For example a aspirin will cost you $10, to have your blood drawn cost $300.

    Read on...

What goes through the head of the politicians there?
Here in my country we have a discount of 4.5% of salary to have private healthcare and children under 18 receive free care if one parent is working and contributes 4.5%.

Just wait until people lose their jobs due to businesses not being able to afford the cost of higher insurance. I already know of multiple small businesses that have closed for good because they can't afford to meet these new regulations. So now there's a dozen+ people without a job, healthcare, or anything..... such a great plan. /sarcasm The only ones benefiting from it are the people that are already poor and not paying much if any taxes anyways.

Most places around here are limiting employment to part time only now because they're not required to provide health insurance.

Wow that's a right rip off, I recently had a CT scan because of terrible sinus pain and I pay that via my taxes which means no huge bill.
Also on the site it would be about £284 for some eye drops :gape: on the NHS it would cost almost £8 which is about $12 or if you have 2 or more prescriptions a month you can have a card where you pay £104 over 10 months and get as many prescriptions as you want

I never have fully understood why Americans reject universal healthcare

Yes a bunch of smaller companies have closed their doors due to the Affordable Healthcare Act locally. Some have been in business for over 30 years.

We do not reject Universal Healthcare, we reject throwing money at a problem.

that's the plan, make the masses able to have only one option, the government option. Best part is everyone who voted for the bill is exempt from the bill. Love America 180. Equality in Mediocrity.

Hospitals are expensive because too many people DO NOT PAY, if everyone had some personal responsibility and paid their bills, everything would balance out, but the hospitals have to charge more than they should to try and keep afloat.

well, we say we reject it, but that's what ends up happening.
We also love choices in America, as well as quick, effective treatment rather than bearucratic bull**** that is tied to the government. The only thing that government does well is the military, everything else it touches turns to crap.

Obamacare is a pile of trash. It really is a socialist policy and in my opinion it makes Obama one of our worst presidents as a result. Making costs skyrocket for the middle class just so that the very poor can piggy back? Really? The broken system that was in place before worked better than this. I'd rather have poor people not pay and the costs jacked up than me effectively subsidizing health care for them.

Where can you get blood drawn for $300? My last blood work was almost $800 for a single test.... My chest x-rays were cheaper....(less than $100 for 3 x-rays)

Hospitals overcharge to try and keep afloat? The local hospital just recently finished a multi-BILLION dollar renovation that it didn't need....prior to that, it had finished a multi-million dollar renovation. Now they're working on yet another multi-million dollar renovation. They've spent the better part of the last 10 years renovating the damn hospital for no other reason than to change how it looks.... So, if they can afford to spend BILLIONS over a 10 year period just to change how the hospital looks (with no functional improvements)....how exactly are they having a problem staying afloat?

The problem with the "old system" is that the people whom actually NEED the health insurance.....can't/couldn't get it. Imagine this... You go to the doctor because you feel like crap. The doctor refers you to an oncologist for a second opinion. The oncologist has tests done. The diagnosis, is that you have cancer. A few weeks later, you receive the bills from the oncologist and a letter from your insurance company informing you that they're no longer going to cover you. Now you have several thousands of dollars in medical bills to pay and a choice of whether to get treatment to save your life (and thus incur massive, uncontrollable debt) or say "eff it, I'm done" and let your life end painfully..... That's exactly what's been happening to millions of people annually under the "old system"..... So, the "old system" worked better than one that requires insurance companies to cover EVERYONE?

Consider this as well.... "Obamacare" is the result of those idiots in DC refusing to work together. Don't blame Obama....blame the Republicans who flat out refused to even discuss a health care reform bill that required any sort of compromise.... Both systems have major drawbacks and until those idiots in DC learn how to actually do their jobs, no problem will ever get fixed.

if they NEEDED health insurance, they would get a job/some skills to start gainful employment.

i guess if you want to have a crappy old hospital, then your idea is great.
