http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1036069 This comes after the PT teaser being pulled from PSN as of April 29th. Konami...what are you doing? http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/konami-silent-hills-gets-cancelled.html
But Kojima promised he would continue working on the game!! Wth is going on!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT7Y8kei7no
No they sure as hell will not go bankrupt. They are basically abandoning Triple A game development. They have said on record they wanted to move away from big budget titles and focus on mobile and portable devices such as smartphones, tablets, and handheld consoles. Basically they can see how easy it is for other companies to release total trash apps for free but charge for in game items and make money hand over fist. They certainly won't go bankrupt, they have basically fired Kojima and his salary I bet wasn't cheap. They will probably fire a huge more amount of staff asfter MGSV releases and they don't forget they have the revenue from MGSV coming in shortly. We all know that game will sell easily into the millions if not 10-12 million for its lifetime. Konami will then pour all that money into making crappy f2p apps for phones and make truck loads of money off it through microtransactions. It saddens me, really Konami were once a great dev/publisher. Just look at what titles they could of gone back to.... 1) MGS (obviously for 6) 2) Castlevania (go back to side scrolling style, or remaster Super Castlevania IV) 3) Silent Hill (this just sadden me, SH2 is one of my all time fav games) 4) Contra! (Seriously, who doesn't like contra!) 5) Frogger (hehehe) Instead of creating great games from their franchises or making new IP they are going the easy way of mobile F2P.
Well that's just great... finally looking forward to a game that isn't modern battlefield brown drab 4 and they can it. Once I have MGS5 I can't see myself getting anything else from Konami, i mean it's not like they have a lot left.
Well Bloodborne is a PS4 exclusive. Just because it's on one platform doesn;t mean it'd fail. I remember seeing all the hype when the P.T demo was released and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. For a horror game it was actually scary unlike most of the crud on steam with "horror" in it.
Contra, Castlevania, MGS, Silent Hill, Turtles In Time, Sunset Riders, etc They made some awesome games over the years. I think this is where it all started going down hill.... It was PAINFUL to watch. If this doesn't show they were literally imploding from the inside. The let good old Jim tell you a story. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/5524-Konami
sad days, konami turning into capcom? and castrating there selves slowly like capcom has done? MGS and Castlevania are only thing i cared for other then ZOE and ZOE 3 probably wont happen
Ahahaha, Thank you, I cannot remember the last time I've had such a laugh. Oh man, that press conference was a beautiful trainwreck. Reminds me of this game presentation, where the game is based on japanese history & " Famous battles that actually took place in japan ".
I find it hard to believe that a company like Konami would even consider the mobile market. But it seems like almost all Japanese games companies are heading that way. Sad times indeed.
Likely because it's just becoming viable in japan. Smarthphone usage was pretty behind compared to what we have in the EU or US.
The tweak was from Guillermo del Toro confirming he will not be collaborating with Kojima. Konami are still working on Silent Hill. Eurogamer managed to get a response for this. Why has the image of Norman Reedus disappeared from the official website? This is because our contract period with him has expired. Why is "P.T." no longer available on Playstation Network? Because the distribution period has expired. What will happen with regard to "SILENT HILL"? Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will continue to develop the "SILENT HILL" series. What will happen with regard to "P.T."? P.T. was purely created to be a playable teaser for "SILENT HILL." What do you mean by "playable teaser"? The playable teaser was a trial edition of "SILENT HILLS" intended to give players an idea of the game concept. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-04-26-silent-hills-is-dead-actor-norman-reedus-confirms
To me, that suggests that PT was simply nothing but a playable teaser and that it is not an actual game that is being worked on for a release anytime soon or at all. I base this off this comment: Also, i think its better that they dropped that actor. Imo, using real world actors in games is tacky and immersion breaking, i dont feel like im experiencing the game, i feel like im helping that real world person through an interactive movie. More so when the character model is poorly designed.
So, they are still making a Silent Hill game, but removed the public figures attached to the project ? Yeah, gonna agree on that one. Its not that often it happens with actors appearing in games, but when it does happen. I tend to associate the actor with their previous work instead of the story the game tries to tell me.
