Cheers, just installed... I have many HDs around the place so most useful!

A bit concerned that my brand new Crucial M550 512GB SSD is at 90% health already whilst the others, including 2 old OCZ Vertex 2 SSDs and 2 3TB Seagate HDs are listed as 100% perfect!? And they've had lots of use...

Things only been powered up 6 times! I did clone the Win 8.1 install from the (100% rated) 120GB Vertex 2 as I couldn't be arsed with a fresh install as everything runs perfect! But I don't see how that could cause reallocated sectors?

Oh well... I'll leave HD Sentinel monitoring it for the next couple of weeks and will consider returning the drive if it drops any more... Here in the UK we're supposed to be able to return most things very easily within 30 days, hopefully that's the case if there's a minor problem!!!!

Thanks for heads up. Is this software accurate? I mean:

Well from what I can tell is that HD Sentinel relies on SMART data from the drive itself to gauge drive health. I doubt it's reading it wrong but you could always try another program like Crystal Diskinfo to verify? But your results don't look very promising...

If it was me I'd fit a fresh sata cable, power it from another power cable from the PSU, then use the manufacturers tools and run a full test... if it fails their tests then use their low level format tool and then test again...

I would seriously think about backing up anything important on that drive

That's a lot of start/stop counts for such a low number of days powered on too - have you got the drive set to spin down after X number of minutes ?

Works just fine. It's just very quiet. From 3ft away, inside my case, it's inaudible, unlike my 500GB WD Black....

I can't say I have noticed mine making any noise, but fans would likely drown out any HDD noises anyway atm

Yea you'll need to reinstall 4.40 from the giveaway, its only valid with the license, I did the same thing and lost the license - just install it again over the top and it'll reactivate

Nah me neither, I had a quick look around 4.50 and couldn't see anything extra to make me want to keep it over a free one

Manufacturing errors in a few cells. Nothing to worry about. You'll probably never see it drop a single % again. Overprovisioning makes SSD's pretty bulletproof in that regard.
