Hi. The Skylake bug was fixed with a microcode update. How does this work? Is the processor's firmware or something updated?
Hi, that's the one, thanks. I'm just curious how it works. I've just been doing some digging about it and I've learnt that a patch is applied at every boot to basically debug. Do you think the processors manufactured after the bug discovery will be free of this bug?
As far as I know they just made a fix through bios update, http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016...auses-pcs-to-freeze-during-complex-workloads/ So if you buy a used skylake mobo it could still freeze in prime95 and other complex workloads.
