    Hi folks,

I bought an MSI G70 in summer.

    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-177214-074-MSI-GS70-2PC(Stealth)-074UK_1626488.html

I didn't expect it to play full on games on high settings, it was intended as a secondary PC as my desktop's the main one.

The laptop is just for me and my son on LAN and for occasionally taking out.

When I got it I was really pleased with the way it handled Watch Dogs, high settings and pretty smooth.

But already I'm finding it can't play things.

Far Cry 4, even if I turn all setting to their absolute lowest is about 5fps.

    DA:I not much better.

I find it hard to believe Far Cry 4 and other recent games are so much more demanding than Watch Dogs was.

Could it be something else that's wrong?

    Cheers

Yes, likely you're not assigning the right graphics card in the nvidia control panel.

You usually have to do it manually.

But expect no miracles - 860M isn't too fast, just decent.
"Many games of 2013/2014 (Tomb Raider or BioShock Infinite, etc.) can be played fluently in FullHD resolution and very high detail settings. However, very demanding games such as Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4 will require lower resolutions and/or details."

Yup sounds like it's trying to use the Intel chip instead of the 860M. Mine has no issues with current gen games and I play at 1920x1200.

Check the power LED colour when gaming - it should be amber (=Nvidia, white is Intel).
