Hi Folks,
This may have been dealt with here but I can't seem to find anyhting on it.
Many users are rediscovering our old DOS Glide games and all of using some sort of Voodoo 3 get the following error regardless of the game:
grSSTQueryHardware()
Ovbiously the game is trying to access a voodoo 1 and we can't figure out how to convince the game that the V3 is OK for this.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
It is something similar to another problem that happened when u would run a voodoo1 dos game on a voodoo2.(Tomb Raider 1 , Pandemonium 1).The solution was to find a patch for that game.I found the patch for Tomb Raider but not for the Pandemonium so i openned the notepad and edited the patch(it was a *.bat file) to suit the needs of pandemonium.
So what u should do is to try to find a patch for the game...
or make your own batch file using the Glide manual from 3DFX.(Don't print it.I did.A LOT of pages. )Basically u are trying to find a way to somehow bypass the grSSTQueryHardware()command.
That command was replased with grGet(gr_num_boards)
Make a batch file that looks like this:
set grGet(gr_num_boards)
and then enter the exe file of your game i.e.
tomb.exe
and save it in the same directory as your game. This command tells glide to find if there is any card that supports Glide.
Use the patch first,if u can find it.I don't garranty that the batch file will work and use it at your own risk.
Hi,
I still am having trouble. Where can I find the environment variables for the V3?
That way I can change some settings to make it work...
