TXAA sucks big time, FXAA is the best AA option for Unity.Crisp textures > all.

Did you test it in this game ? It's better than 4xMSAA..Better Anti-Aliasing, more crisp textures and better performance. For the first time of my life, i use FXAA and trust me, i am not a fan of blur.

I doubt FXAA is any good, it might not blur textures but who cares about crisp textures when it has zero effect on temporal aliasing which is one of the worst image destroying artefacts in gaming.

I suppose it's better than nothing though, so great news to hear it has been improved to the point that even people who hate blur like it.

Saying that, i'm sure someone said a few pages back that MSAA isn't just MSAA, but it also includes a heavy post AA solution applied on top.
Not saying that is the case, but for the blur phobic it could be more to do with MSAA having more post AA than FXAA.

    FXAA:

FXAA is clearly the winner here in all terms.

I got the PS4 version today and I swear it has tessellation as bald character heads and barrels look very rounded (though they could just be using very high polygon counts). The framerate is very erratic in places, though never to the extent that it becomes unplayable (running across the rooftops seems to hold 30 fps better too!!!), and the bit in Saint-Chappelle where you have to climb to use the medallion actually causes the game to freeze for half a second making it feel like the game is running at a single digit framerate. The weird thing with the latter issue is that the building you are in is completely empty so the performance issues here are very bizarre to say the least! :3eyes:

Despite, the performance though, I have to say that the game (patched to v1.02) looks fantastic on the PS4 in spite of running at 900p (it's easy to forget it isn't 1080p as the game has superb AA, likely the same FXAA as the PC version). The PS4 version actually looks better IMO in many ways than it does on my PC, many because there's no lighting artifacts, shimmering, texture seams and flickering which I saw plenty of in my playthrough yesterday. Also, maybe it's because I'm sat further away from the TV and/or because of the lower resolution but the pop in and LOD issues are not quite so in-yer-face on the PS4. Hopefully, most of those are fixed on PC in the new 792 MB patch which I'm downloading now because that version does at least have the advance of a higher framerate on my system, though the microstuttering (again not present on PS4) is mildly irritating.

    I don't have any micro-stuttering, playing at 1600P/FXAA/Ultra High using a single GTX970(Stock).

@ Memorian, is your environment quality on ultra?

I can see some LoD issues in the background in those screenshots. The spires in particular.

I do have to say FXAA does do a far better job with aliasing than 4xMSAA does based on those screenshots.

Does it look ok in motion though as it's easy to sort aliasing in stills, it's in motion that the temporal aliasing can turn the best looking games into an ugly shimmering mess.

Yeap, it's good in motion too.I never used FXAA in games before as i am not a fan of blurry textures, but this time..Damn it, this new version of FXAA does impress me.

@Carfax, yeap, Ultra High, patch 1.1
It is known though that the game suffers from bad LoD.

Yeah but not that bad. I posted some screenshots a few pages back and you can see that the LoD in my screenshots is much better than the one you posted. It looks like your texture level may be set to low or something then, but a GTX 970 has enough VRAM to easily handle ultra level textures in this game.

You also know that the game was patched to version 1.2 right?
