im looking to replace my old HT speakers. but i know nothing about this. i went to bestbuy cause its only place to go chek some speakers overhere other than sears. they got some polks, kplish and pioneer. from those 3 brands what models would you guys recommend. im planing to replace the 3 front speakers first. and use the front left and right that i have now as side speakers and leave the surround rears untouched.

one of my questions is are the front speakers better in tower design or book shelf design? i seen some polks tower design here is link are this good?
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Polk+Audio+-+Dual+5-1/4%22+2-Way+Floor+Speakers+%28Each%29+-+Black/8825453.p?id=1207352587178&skuId=8825453

this other polks look exactly the same as the above linked but in a book shelf design,

between those 2 other than the obvious design case the tower design says 150watt and the book design 100watt.
wich design offers the best sound quality??

ahh and my receiver is 100watt per channel what would be recommended watts for speakers in my setup.

finally if you know of less expensive speakers with same or better sound quality please suggest.

    another thing.

the main complaint i got with my current speakers is the lack of clarity or high sounds its hard to describe. i met a guy at the store, regular guy not store employee and he told me i could modify the speakers i own now by replacing the speaker with car audio speakers of the same size but the ones that include a tweeter in the center of the speaker. Im an open minded person so i listened to his suggestion but i asked what about the speaker OHMS car audio speakers are 4ohms and home audio is 8ohms. he said it didnt matter for the main speakers and the receiver wouldnt have problem with that. he said it only would matter for the subwoofer, but i dont need to change the sub anyways.

what do you guys think of this?

Personally, I'd try to find an excellent separate stereo (2 channel) power amp that can easily be connected to your receiver via analog and then look for a good speaker combination to match this setup.

Here's some decent / affordable bookshelf-type speakers that might interest you:

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the separate stereo amp is just so you can listen to stereo music with a little bit more power and clarity of course. You'd have to look for a separate pair of (preferrably big) front speakers that can blend in nicely with the rest of your speaker setup in terms of sound coloration characteristics etcetera.
