I like avira for a very long time.

when compared with other.s its works good for me.

but for some reason there is another part of the avira program that now runs in the background, kinda like addon service that shows addition options or if the program is running.

I tried the stand alone installer and it doesn it install the program.

but then later on, I found out it installed it self again and installed avira toolbar.

does anybody know how to keep it from installing that other program.

Have you tried to ask avira`s developers?
What is the extension of standalone installer package file - exe or msi? Can you unpack it with archiver? If yes then may be there are separate installers for all these programs. Or main program can download others and install silently (which you can`t prevent).
But in Windows you can prevent any program to start - it can be workaround. For that you can use http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx.

If so, you can remove it via your Windows Control Panel, Programs and Features, just remove the one thats not called Avira Free Antivirus.

I think it automatically installs when theres a new version, so have to do the above all the time to get shot.

If its not that you are on about, then just ignore me :p
