Hey gents, I am looking for suggestions on a new monitor. I know monitors have many stats, some that matter and some that do not. I am having trouble cutting through the marketing BS on this one.

Here is what I am looking for.

-around 30 inches (little smaller or little larger is fine)
-will be used for general PC usage most of the time as well as some gaming
    -4k preferable
-does not have to be curved but it can be
-it will get used heavily on a daily basis (machine is for work and play)
-I only buy a new monitor once every several years so I tend to favor the higher end but I don't want to go 1k if possible
-not locked into brand but I am probably more comfortable with one of the trusted major brands

    Thank you very much!

    -PS-
I am partial to the Asus ROG 34 inch curved but that price tag is painful. I figure there is probably a panel out there that is 85% as good but close to half the cost.

    -PS-2-
I see Acer makes a monitor similar to the one I mentioned above but its cost is about $800 vs the $1200 of the Asus.

    -PS-3-
I just remembered the whole G-Sync vs. FreeSync thing. I have an RX480 so I would need FreeSync although I am unaware of how much difference either technology really makes.

I think the acer x34, ultrawide curved is already good enough.

    Thanks!

What about the XR34? It is about $800 (X34 is 1300) and seems to have similar specs.

I also found this Samsung which is actually Freesync ($950). LC34F791WQNXZA

Samsung U32H850 or U28E850R are very tempting for their prices. Both are 4K quantum dot enhanced, so theyll have good color. I might actually get one of the 28" as my next monitor.

Asus and Acer arent really trusted monitor brands to me.
