Will be getting 2 x 1080 (non-reference), i'll wait till ASUS brings out their cards. Higher clocks and better cooling, don't like the fact that reference runs at 80 degrees...

Since I will be running SLI, want efficient cooling...

Then i'm definitely getting VOLTA, HBM2, new architecture and hopefully will be able to run 4K 60FPS on 1 card... but until then, the 1080 beckons...

Volta will be 2018, but before that we will get GP 102 TItan/1080 Ti

1525Mhz core, the same overclock with which i scored 46.4 in Ashes of the Singularity. There's clearly an hidden update on DX12 in this driver.

Will undoubtedly be a great card like the 980Ti was, though hopefully a little bit cooler since the 980Ti was quite a heat generator.

Probably not cooler I'm afraid :p

If anything, hotter. It's gonna have the same TDP as the 980ti with around 20% smaller die

Yeah, the nvidia partners will have to beef up their AIB cards, would be a good occasion too to sport some fancy new RGB coolers (I think that will already happen with the 1080). :D

I'm convinced you're going to need waterblocks to push the 1080 a significant amount higher than what was achievable with the FE. Even if the AIB boards allow for 300w, cooling 300w on a 320mm die is simply nuts :D

Overclocked it gets 4500 in firestrike ultra they claim on videocardz(dot)net

Either way, expected performance really. Definitely not an upgrade for 980Ti users

What matters now is to see how big the difference between 480x and 1070 is and how they are priced

Pretty much made up my mind now, it's gonna be a 1070.

And from now on i will be upgrading every second generation with a Mid Range Card.

980ti @1450 vs overclocked 1070. Who wins? My money is on 980ti.

No high-end card is ever worth the price outside the US. :O

yeah, look at the premium of the 980 over the 970 from last gen. The 980 was 70% more expensive at launch and most 970 overclocked past 980 stock performance, that's how close they were.

That's why I mainly stick to x70 cards and when I do buy a top end card, it's towards the end of it's cycle (980ti, 480, x1950xtx and a few others).

Still, I wouldn't really bitch about the 1070 pricing because we don't actually know how much they will be. But seeing as there's nothing but silence coming out of AMD, I can imagine nVidia will inflate the prices. Because they can.

I don't know... Australia normally get good pricing too.
