Going to be picking up a 4770k and want some advice. I'm leaning towards either z87 MSIMpower http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130691 or ASUS Maximus VI Hero http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131989 I like the msata slot on the MSI board but haven't used MSI in a very long time(since hte k6-2 days) so a little iffy on the brand. I currently have a Crosshair V formula Z 990 FX board and love it. Both boards are the same price so you can see my dilemma. I will be running 2 680's in SLI and have 8 gigs of 1600mhz ddr (4 gig dimms).
Asus gets my vote. Do you by chance have a Microcenter near you? They have a cpu+mobo combo deal for in store purchases.
Wish they were but my bank and wife are glad they aren't. Im about an hour away from tiger and a little under 2 from a Frys though. Thanks for the vote
Ok guys need some 200.00's or less suggestions, and experience with whats the recommendations are any info is appreciated.
You could try the Z87-A which I believe is around $200.00, don't know how much of an overclocking board it is.
Nah, Hero VI is better then.. Or maybe Sabertooth? I like my Deluxe too, very well build and stable. :nerd:
Go for Z97, it supports current Haswell's. Apparently the Haswell Refresh K processors (including i7-4790k) will be available early June.
I have use MSI boards in the most recent of times but when I made my new system I stayed away! They are garbage if you ask me. The last mobo I had from MSI was nothing but a problem maker, the ram had issues, OC was a nightmare etc etc etc. I would say if it is down to those boards give the ASUS one a go. Personally I would also check out gigabyte. Their new Z87 mobos are pretty dam good! Cheers
Wound up picking up a Maximus Hero. Very nice board and super easy to setup. Have not started overclocking yet but that's soon to come
Yeah, it's nice eh. Solid basic board with everything you need... looks are good and not over the top.
