Headache 6800 to quadro 4000

There are a couple fixes in the readme. Tell you what I'll try em after todays BF2 match. Downloading now though anyway.

 

Sorry, but wrong again. You can't unlock anything means just that - you can't even fool apps to think it's a quadro since the important "pro" bit in the GPU registers is not set. Drivers will perform the same as GeForce, special quadro drivers like Maxtreme or Powerdraft will not work, etc. Only the name will be changed, nothing else.

 

I have done this mod now on a Dell 6800GTO PCI-E with all pipes unlocked. Will post result as fast as the SPECviewperf have been downloaded. (real slow download) My father has told me to order a new computer for CAD work and do not want to spend over 1000$ on a Quadro card (he´s now running on a Ti4200 128). Is it better for him that i softmod my 6800GTO and he uses that instead of buying him a 7800GT (or better?)?

I had no luck softmodding my FX5600 card on Windows 2000 with Rivatuner v2.0 RC 15.8 so I bought an eVGA 6800 GT AGP and it seems to work nicely as a Quadro FX 4000. (BTW, I'm still interested in getting my FX5600 working as a Quadro for a different computer, if anyone can help me with that.) I followed Reaversword's instructions in this thread to get my 6800 GT softquadro'ed.

This seems like a good place to share my SpecViewperf 8.1 results. First, the currently connected computer:

Windows 2000 w/ SP4, fully updated
Abit NF7 mobo
Athlon Mobile XP at 3200+ (2200 MHz)
2 GB memory at 200 MHz (PC 3200) and 2.5-4-4-8

My numbers don't compete with others I've seen here for dual processors and PCI-e, but I'm still pleased. My purpose is not to get the best bechmarks (though that would sure make me smile) but just to be more productive in 3D apps like Maya and Houdini. And it sure is doing that!

 

Leadtek 6800Ultra softmod problems

I'm having trouble softmodding my Leadtek A400 6800Ultra into a Quadro FX4000. I use Rivatuner 15.7 with professional capabilities checked.. The conversion does work and i get to choose my 3d application in the opelgl settings.. but after running 3dsmax 8 for like 2 minutes, the card start to lag and i get like 8 colors only. I have tried a lot of different drivers, and it's the same story with whatever I use.. The Leadtek I use has a nv40 AGP core.. I have a athlon x2 4400+ on an Abit 3rd eye mobo.. Is there any settings I may have missed??

I guess i just missed the Use ROM strap checkbox... 3dsmax now moves polygons crazy fast and stable. Yiiiiehaaa!!

 

what to do to boost performance

I have GeForce 6800 ultra 512mb PCIE card from Leadtek. In Riva it says 256-bit NV40 (A1,16x1,6vp) The driver i use is 81.67 . and my results in Spec are :

I can only choose in NvStrap Quadro FX4000.
I read some peopel can choose fx3400/4400. Can they if yes how?
Why are mine results so slow? When i use the same card?

There is nothing wrong with your results - psy_parasite is simply using a 2.5GHz processor, while you are running at 2.0 GHz which explains the difference (dualcore doesn't matter in SpecViewPerf).
Also, NVIDIA drivers had some problems with dual core CPUs, maybe thats also contributing to slower speeds.

And for NVStrapping into different cards: for NV40 cards (6800 GT/Ultra) for AGP it's reccomended to strap to Quadro FX 4000, for PCI-E it's Quadro FX 4400.

The GTO I have, will get a new DELL Quadro 3400 BIOS, I found one at http://www.*******.net and I´m now trying to make out if I can use it.
Anyone ith a clue?

Hi all.
I didn't understand a thing: if a 6800, that's PCI express native, has its DeviceID hardcoded on the bridge (that overcome the one coded by resistors on the pcb), why some with 6800 GT can softmod his card and I can't softmod my 6800 GS? I know that the pcb is different, but with softmod this shouldn't matter...

 

6800GS is NV42, as also RT say
But the fact that in nv4_disp.inf the DeviceID of 6800GS is reported in the line beginning with "%NVIDIA_NV40..." in the [Nvidia.Mfg] 'chapter' doesn't means anything about a possibile extreme resemblance of the two chips (NV40 and NV42)?

Do you means that the GS has not the bridge AGP->PCI express?

First of all sorry for my bad english and Thanks to all who help us (newbees) especially unwinder who coded this cool RT.
Till now i've read all i can find about getting a QuadroFX4000 without bying one. (hardmod, softmod, all posts of loop, unwinder, alecryben, and many more... THX to all).

but i've nothing found that relates to a Bios-Mod. Why im interested in a bios mod? The answer is Simple.
I dont like Windows very much and my Gentoobox is really Cool and hardworking.
I spent much time in getting a fully running Proe-Suite under gentoo and it works now. (if anyone is interested in an howto just ask)
What ive understand is: i can patch my grfx-bios to get the right id with NibiTor. but the thing i miss in an bios-mod is, the thing with the checked "unlock professional capabilities"! i can't imagine how to get it in my grfx-bios and what it really is.

My Hardware is: Asus A7n8x-deluxe mobo, amd 2500+ @ 3200+ 1Gb DDR-Ram, Asus v9999 GE bios-modded to v9999 ultra level (256-bit NV40 (A1,16x1,6vp)...420/1100 256 MB DDR3) done with RT and Nibitor. Ive no cooling probs since i've got an Watercooled System.

So if anybody know how to bios-mod my v9999 to an Quadrofx4000 i would be verry happy for any hint and reply THX a lot!

 

Am I going to have problem with my BFG 6800 OC GT PCIe to do quadro softmod?
