Hey everybody, I've been doing some research, and came across a good deal on a 290x with a reference cooler. Now, I know the reference cooler is garbage, especially compared to any aftermarket offerings.

Since I only have one 290x currently, I bought the reference to do Crossfire again (sold my second card a couple months ago, long story). I thought that since the second card wont even be on half the time the noise wouldn't bother me.

But then I remembered my Tri-x I have now, was upgraded using an NZXT G10 and a Corsair H55. I literally have an available tri-x cooler sitting in my basement. This should be a straight swap right? I believe the Tri-X uses the reference PCB (its the first gen tri-x not the "NEW" model).

I still have all the thermal pads and will obviously apply new thermal paste.

Just crossing my T's and dotting my I's.

If they use the same pcb, it should be a drop-in replacement.
