    wear levelling count says 19, so i guess it should have 1000-19 =981 writes left???

    i am buying this second hand, so i want to make sure its not on the verge of dying

    You're right, it does tell you how many program/erase cycles have occurred. If you don't mind me asking though, where did you get that 1000?

    but you made me double check, and i cannot find any official write endurance figures (form the very quick check i did)

    As long as the write number is as low as Samsung magician says, then i am happy

    Connect that SSD to your motherboard,be sure that it is the only connected hard drive,run a live session of Parted Magic and run its Secure Erase tool.
    Will "reset" that SSD ,and it will be like brand new.
