    Hello, I am yet another newbie.

    I've read the guides posted here:
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=195029
    http://www.guru3d.com/article/rivatuner-20-fan-speed--overclock-guide/

    They seem quite overcomplicated for my needs. All I want to do is to lower the minimum fan speed to 40% instead of the default 50%, so that it's quieter. The fan speed should increase automatically as soon as the temperature increases. By randomly playing in the settings, I've been able to achieve such result, but for some reason it is lost after a system reboot/hibernation. I also saved a profile in the driver-level settings, but it doesn't work at all when I try to load it (the fan speed doesn't change to 40%). I can consistently reproduce the needed settings by hand (again, randomly tweaking the settings), but again they will be lost after a restart, and that is annoying.

    My hardware should be specified on the left; I'm running nVidia drivers 190.62 on Windows 7 x64.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Did you check the box for the profile to apply at startup and resume after suspend? Or add a scheduled item to do it? And I think the resume from suspend only works with suspend, not hibernate. And it requires RivaTuner to be running (just send to systray, not close).

    Also, if you're using the UAC you may want to review the clip here first:

    Installation -> Removing UAC Prompts

    Thank you for your reply, at any rate I gave up because, after doing what you suggested and also adding fan profiles with scheduled items (mapped to temperature ranges). The setup per se worked fine, but for some reason the driver's auto fan control stopped working properly (the fan stopped completely) even after closing RT. I restarted, installed the new 191.x drivers and uninstalled RivaTuner. Too dangerous for my needs (I'm not blaming RT, I just don't want to fry my hardware.
