Hi there.... I ma trying to do something and everyone told me RivaTuner would be the way to go but i am unable to get it to work. If someone could help me I would be very happy. Background Basicaly I Have 2 Monitors that run at different native resolutions. One is a Cintiq Wacom Table the other a standard widescreen monitor. The wacom only runs at 1280x800, while my monitor can do much higher. At the moment to use my wacom i need to turn off the computer and unplug my monitor and then plug in the wacom and then reboot. This is a real pain. What I wish to do is use a signal splitter to put the video display onto both screens at the same time. Then when i wish to use the wacom simply change windows rez to 1280x800 and then switch the wacom on. The problem is that I need to have the wacom as the primary monitor on the splitter (the monitor that windows detects) so all the wacom functions work properly. The Problem as it is When the computer boots with the wacom plugged in as the primary on the splitter, when you go to the windows display config you can not increase the rez past 1280x800. Even if i untick "hide unsupported monitor display modes" What I Have Tried to do so far. I have fooled about in RivaTunner and had no luck. Basically I did two things. 1) I went to Low Level-Refresh Rate Settings and Monitor Driver Wizard and put into max resolution 1680x1050. Clicked the check all button to select all the Available Display Modes and then created the driver. Then I installed it.= though device manager. 2) After the monitor driver was installed I went to "Custom Display Modes / Refresh Rates Wizard" and entered 1680x1050 and put in 60 70 72 75 in the refresh rate list. I hit ADD and get an error message saying "Vertical Scan Frequency for the custom mode you are about to add is out of range" I then Hit Yes each time ths box came up and rebooted when it was over. End result.. nothing. There is no option to for 1680x1050 in display settings config area. What i THINK I need to do I think all I need to do is when i make the custom monitor driver add values into the Available Display Modes.. but i can not see a way to edit anything in there but the refresh rates. What I want to do in a nutshell To sum up I want to add a custom screen resolution 1680x1050 so i can set my screen res to that, even though the default setting limit me to 1280x800. This is so I can turn off the wacom and set it to high rez and just use my monitor, or change rez to 1280x800 and turn on my wacom and have that work as well I have tried to be very clear i hope you understand what i am asking .. i know this was a long post... thanks for your any help you may be able to give.
What prevents you from using both in dual display mode? And changing those settings with hotkeys where appropriate? Maybe I didn't understand..
I already use a duel display with 2 22" monitors. I can not use hotketys as the options to change the res to 1680x1050 is not there.
[edit ignore post] Your 8800gt has two ports doesn't it? Even my 66gt does. All you need to do is plug your second monitor into that second port then turn on DualView in the nVidia control panel. This lets you run independent resolutions and the second monitor isn't just a clone of the first. If you do want cloned screens then select the 'clone' mode however your second screen will just show a cropped version of your first screen. You can scroll around on the second screen. If the screens are the same resolution then you won't need to scroll.
I am running 3 monitors.. 2 displays as you said and a 3rd one on a single splitter to the primary display.. I tried to explain what i am doing in the background bit of my first post....
Thanks for all your help, but i managed to get thos working using beta drivers from nvidia witch has the custom res options put back into them. Thanks for you time.
