NVIDIA more impressive than ever, maxwell is just too good(even with 970 4gb hox). But i though nvidia had 65-70% market share, 76% is insane. probably will go down in 2015 a bit.
Why is S3 even listed? They don't have a product "in the channel" and haven't for several years now. Their last product launch was in 2009 (6 years ago this month). I can't even find a site selling their cards anymore.
Not very surprising... Not very surprising considering nVidia is leading in every way: performance, heat/noise, software and technology.
Wake up AMD,we need you to be more competitive!I really believe that it`s time to be more aggressive!I would really like to see nVidia 55% and AMD 45%,that would be really nice market share.
Nvidia has great advertising and marketing. AMD on the other hand does not... While usually it's performance that determines sales and numbers, that's not always the case or the main reason for sales.
nvidia had perfect strike with 980 and 970, 970 is the perfect gpu in all terms that why it sold so much and even with the 4gb hox, it still rocking hard.
It will be interesting to see how the 970 scandal affects this, bit it's probably not a huge amount. At present it's not ideal for AMD, it must be getting harder to keep spending money on R&D when sales are decreasing.
Maxwell is performing very well yes, but I'm not just speaking current generations. I'm speaking past generations as well.
indeed, Kepler helped nvidia as well, specially the early 780. But i think maxwell had the biggest impact of all, it just amazing what nvidia achieved, hate it or love it.
Made pretty much zero difference, well known retailer said 970 still flying off their shelves. They reported poor sales for 290/290x Better sales for 280x
I can't believe out of 14 comments no one has brought up the point that AMD's AIB market share is significantly lower because unlike nVidia, AMD makes their own processors with built in GPUs. Why would AMD release an AIB to compete with 610M or 750M when their AGPUs have similar or better performance? I would like to see the breakdown of the high end nVidia and AMD AIB as I suspect the numbers are a lot closer.
As I had mentioned on reddit in response to all of the AMD Social media trolls of the 970 situation, perhaps they should worry more about gaining back some market share instead of trolling on the internet. Pretty funny to watch them troll Nvidia, meanwhile they can't sell their cards for MSRP and Nvidia can barely stock the 970
The 970 scandal is just pushing their 980 sales up, as everyones sending their 970s back, plus the extra cash for them.
I think AMD will rebound a big to 65-70 - 30-35. They need to do a better job of marketing their products. It also always is a good time to release something for the 4th quarter retail season too.
ALERT! GPU since 1981?!!??!?!?!?!???? FALSE!! Should get attention!!! But yes first GPU (= 1st graphics card with 2D and 3D accelerated) - Voodoo was released in 1996.
