    Guys,please help me to choose.
    My old PC specs:

    Phenom ii x4 965
    Manli GTX 460
    Memori 4Gb
    Monitor 1600x1200

My motherboard has broken, and i need to buy new one, sure i will upgrade memori.I will keep my monitor even though not full hd.I wanna play in 60fps.

    My questions:
1.Should i buy new amd mobo and keep my phenom ii?
2.Should i put my i5-4670K and buy i7-4770k for my maximus hero vi?
    3.About the vga,should i keep gtx 460 till gtx 870 come out?or should i go for GTX770 4Gb?
    4.Or you have better solution for vga?like r2 290?

    Thank you for help.

nb:i will not buy gtx 780,my budget for all upgrade is $1k

    Go some Z97, 4670, 8GB 1866, 770 4GB now(or wait for 8xx).
SSD for system and favorite games.
    Should fit the 1K budget.

If you aren't doing 1080p you could even do a gtx 750 ti to tide you over until the 800's drop.

Although, I think a gtx 8xx would be absolute overkill for a non 1080p + monitor. It'll probably be near butter zone for 1440p monitors.

My honest advice is to never cheap on your next build. Of course when you can.
You'll regret it few days after you setup everything just to find out you would spent a little bit more for more power.
Any don't buy a gpu less than 3 or 4 GB if you can, especially if you play on 1080p +

    And you're welcome

1600x1200 has only 7.5% lower amount of pixels to display compared to 1920x1080.

    To OP:
You do not need 4GB VRAM today, except few bad games. And AMD's Mantle which eats like 50% more vram than same details on DX.

I agree that 750Ti is very nice GPU, but you can as well keep your GTX460.

As far as CPU goes, if you are not upgrading to 120/144Hz then do not even bother with expensive pieces.
Even AMD's a10-7700k will do, as in benchmarks its minimum fps while not bottlenecked by GPU is way over 60fps. You can pair it with one of those average but sufficient boards, just check that it has features you want. And again no need to pay extra for something you'll never use.
You don't even need unlocked CPU if budget is not allowing it.

From CPUs a10-7700k/7850k any intel's i5 is fine. Not i3 as they are better than a10-7850k in single threaded apps, but once you go over 2 threads (common these days) they are way worse than AMD chips where their half cores do much better than intel's HT.

For CPU ask yourself a question:
Was CPU holding me bellow 60fps?
    - If yes, then A10-7700 has like 35% higher single threaded performance. And like 15% better multi.
    - While lowest intel's i5-4430 has like 50% higher single threaded performance. And like 40% better multi.
If CPU was not holding you back then 50-80$ old board is better solution than new CPU+MB for 350-500$.

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you pick 750Ti you are looking at 2x-3x performance bump while power consumption is less than half.

Bros,i made decision to put my i5-4670 K in my older PC,and i will go to i7-4770 K.because i dont want to replace my maximus hero vi.
What good motherboard in range $100-$200 for i5-4670 K?

The reason i go to gtx 770,because my gtx 460 cannot play new games like watchdogs.Even in Assassin Creed Black Flag, fps below 40,it irritate my son eyes.Too long waiting gtx 8xx,with gtx 770 i hope can use old PC for 3-5 years.

    Thank you for helping me.

Btw,is my phenom bottleneck with gtx 770?if not bottleneck i will not buy i7 and new mobo.
    Thank you

Not really, maybe a little in BF3 multiplayer here and there. BF4 should be fine.
But I believe that it should pull over 60fps and was big overkill for GTX460.

If there are some particular games you have in mind, I can take my CPU down to like 1.6GHz ~ 2.5GHz which is below your Phenom and test them if I have them.

Because GTX770 is around my HD7970.

Specific game for now is BF4 and Assassin Creed 4 Black Flag.My son play that games.Im not sure about fps because i never test it,but in AC4,little lag when move. That why i think fps must be below 40.

Im pretty happy if you want to test it.
    Thanks alot

    Test Results

I have BF4 but not AC4, so I tested some others:

    Code:
    BF4 Single:
    GHz 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.6
    FPS 82 87 87 87 (average)
At 1.6GHz I went to 64man conquest, fps ranged between 40-70fps.
At 2.5GHz I went to 64man conquest, and did not even care to check fps, was for sure always over 60.

    Code:
    Path of Exile
    GHz 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.6
    FPS 120 120 91 63 (average)
At 1.6 GHz minor stutter at loading.

    Code:
    Tomb Raider
    GHz 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.6
    min 49 50 52 52
    avg 65 66 67 66
    max 82 92 90 84
    At 1.6GHz very playable.

    Code:
    Warhammer 40k:DoW2-Retribution
    GHz 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.6
    min 23 14 28 17
    avg 86 77 59 39
    max 164 147 115 79
At 1.6GHz fps goes around 25-35 in battles full of physics.

    Code:
    Aliens vs. Predator 2010
    GHz 4.5 3.5 2.5 1.6
    FPS 104.1 104.1 103.5 104.1
This Thing can run on intel Atom as long as you give it good GPU... scary.

    GeekBench:
    i5-2500k@1.6GHz vs PII-X4 965@4GHz: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/172017?baseline=657410
Integer performance 2x better for Phenom.

    i5-2500k@2.5GHz vs PII-X4 965@4GHz: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/657447?baseline=172017
Integer performance 19% better for Phenom.

    Problem Report:
    - at 3.5GHz everything was above what 60Hz need.
    - at 2.5GHz Warhammer 40k:DoW2-Retribution showed minor slow downs. BF4 MP just fine.
    - at 1.6GHz Path of Exile shows minor stutter, Wh40k:DoW2-R has big trouble, BF4 multiplayer is doing quite well with minor slowdowns.

    My conclusion:
Since Phenom II X4 @4GHz does better than i5-2500k@2.5GHz by 19% in Integer operations (both single and multi threaded), I see no real CPU bottleneck for 60Hz/fps gaming as i5-2500k@2.5GHz did quite well.

Side note: at 1.6GHz peak power consumption 20W, max temperature 44°C and I did not even bother with reducing voltage from what I use to get 4.5GHz.

So the conclusion is,Phenom II x4 can handle GTX 770.For now i will try keep my Phenom and use MSI 970 Gaming, and not going to intel. It safe alot of money. The store let me try his MSI 970 Gaming for free.
I will give the result after try it.
    Thank alot bro :)
